Neighborhood Classics to Present Violinist Rachel Barton Pine, 11/18; 'Violin Invasion' Set for 11/17

?Neighborhood Classics presents celebrated violinist Rachel Barton Pine in concert on Tuesday, November 18 at 7pm at P.S. 321 in Brooklyn (180 Seventh Ave.). Pine will perform Bach's Sonata in G Minor and selections from Paganini's 24 Caprices, Op. 1, plus new works dedicated to her from New York composers Mohammed Fairouz (“For Egypt” from Sonata for Unaccompanied Violin Native Informant, from 2011) and Earl Maneein (Be12(OH)12(BTB)4 Metal Organic Framework, from 2014). The concert will be hosted by Neighborhood Classics Founder and Artistic Director Simone Dinnerstein. All ticket sales for this one-hour, family-friendly concert benefit P.S. 321.

Imani Uzuri & Joseph C. Phillips, Jr. with Numinous Premiere New Compositions at Kaufman Music Center's Ecstatic Music Festival

The 'stunning' (New York Magazine) vocalist and globally-inspired composer Imani Uzuri teams up with composer and Numinous ensemble founder Joseph C. Phillips, Jr. to perform new works commissioned for this year's Ecstatic Music Festival,presented by Kaufman Music Center at Merkin Concert Hall. Uzuri will premiere an original multi-voice and multi-instrument musical suite, Placeless, performed by Imani Uzuri, Numinous, and featuring very special guests including harpist Brandee A. Younger. The compositions explore the expansive themes of home and “place” inspired by the Psalms, the writings of Sufi mystic and poet Rumi and the folk hymnody African-American Spirituals.
