La MaMa Experimental Theater honored Cheryl Henson, daughter of Jim Henson and prime mover of the Jim Henson Foundation, last night (October 25) at its gala, 'Celebrating Cheryl Henson,' which also featured new works of contemporary puppet theater.
The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will present a reading of THE VISITOR by Carol K. Mack and directed by NEC's Artistic Director Charles Weldon Tuesday, October 19th at 7:30 pm at the June Havoc Theatre at the Abingdon Theatre Complex (312 West 36th St., between 8th & 9th Ave.).
The Drilling Company's Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot will open its 2010 season with 'Love's Labours Lost,' directed by Kathy Curtis, July 8 to 24. This piece sports thirteen original numbers written by the team of William Electric Black and Gary Schreiner, both Emmy-winners. There's an ensemble of ten actors and a three-piece live band. Book, lyrics and direction are by William Electric Black.
