La MaMa Experimental Theater honored Cheryl Henson, daughter of Jim Henson and prime mover of the Jim Henson Foundation, last night (October 25) at its gala, 'Celebrating Cheryl Henson,' which also featured new works of contemporary puppet theater.

The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) will present a reading of THE VISITOR by Carol K. Mack and directed by NEC's Artistic Director Charles Weldon Tuesday, October 19th at 7:30 pm at the June Havoc Theatre at the Abingdon Theatre Complex (312 West 36th St., between 8th & 9th Ave.).

The Drilling Company's Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot will open its 2010 season with 'Love's Labours Lost,' directed by Kathy Curtis, July 8 to 24. The season will also include 'Julius Caesar,' directed by Hamilton Clancy, July 29 to August 14. This is the 19th consecutive year for Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot, a favorite New York summertime cultural treat that is performed free in a municipal parking lot at the corner of Ludlow and Broome Streets, Manhattan.

The second and final production this summer of The Drilling Company's Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot will be 'Julius Caesar,' directed by Hamilton Clancy (Artistic Director) July 29 to August 14. In an unusual adaptation, Shakespeare's drama about the nature of ambition and politics is set in a contemporary urban school system.

From August 8 to September 5, 2010, Theater for the New City (TNC), under the direction of Crystal Field, Artistic Director, will present its first 'Dream Up Festival,' a theater festival of plays from artists across the country and abroad. This piece sports thirteen original numbers written by the team of William Electric Black and Gary Schreiner, both Emmy-winners. There's an ensemble of ten actors and a three-piece live band. Book, lyrics and direction are by William Electric Black.

Thom Fogarty will direct 'Moments and Lemons,' the Theater for the New City debut of playwright Fred Giacinto, which will be presented February 18 to March 7 by Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue, NYC.
