La MaMa Experimental Theater honored Cheryl Henson, daughter of Jim Henson and prime mover of the Jim Henson Foundation, last night (October 25) at its gala, "Celebrating Cheryl Henson," which also featured new works of contemporary puppet theater.
The gala took place in the midst of "La MaMa Puppet Series IV--Built to Perform" (http://www.jsnyc.com/season/lmseries4.htm), a festival which carries on La MaMa's tradition, since its inception, of supporting puppet theater artists from all over the world. Amid tributes to Ms. Henson for her support of puppet theater artists, there were performances by Basil Twist, Phantom Limb, Loco7 Dance Puppet Theatre Company, Leslie and Lolly, Roman Paska, Tom Lee Projects and Lake Simmons.
