With the Johannesburg leg of its tour running full tilt, audiences in the Mother City are counting down the days until the opening night of THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP at Theatre on the Bay in Cape Town. DOWNTON ABBEY and the TWILIGHT saga collide in Charles Ludlam's spoof, will is being presented in South Africa by VR Theatrical by special arrangement with Samuel French.

Opening tonight, Jonathan Roxmouth, one of the biggest names in South African theatre, stars with the inimitable Weslee Swain Lauder in THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP as they have never been seen before. The acclaimed play is conceived and written by Charles Ludlum, and is directed by Elizma Badenhorst with an original score by Wessel Odendaal.

Pieter Toerien and David Ian will present a South African season of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical, EVITA, in directed by Broadway legend Harold Prince. The seven-time Tony Award-winning musical charts the rags-to-riches rise of the First Lady of Argentina, who won the love of her countrymen after marrying military leader-turned-president, Juan Peron.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT - currently running at Theatre on the Bay - won two awards at the 52nd Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards.

The Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards were presented at a ceremony themed 'Live with Flair' at the Artscape Theatre Center last night, with the undisputed highlight of the night being the disruption of the ceremony by Mamela Nyamza, Chuma Sopotela, Buhlebezwe Siwani, and Zikhona Jacobs.
