After Hours Theatre presents Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick…Boom! for a special engagement at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Hollywood on March 25th-27th and April 1st-3rd.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) presents RED SPEEDO, written by Lucas Hnath (The Christians) and directed by NYTW Usual Suspect Lileana Blain-Cruz (Hollow Gates). RED SPEEDO officially opens tonight, March 3, 2016, for a limited run through Sunday, March 27, 2016.

The American Academy of Arts and Letters announces that librettist/lyricist Michael Korie will receive the Marc Blitzstein Award for Musical Theater of $10,000. Established in 1965 by friends of the late Academician Marc Blitzstein in his memory, the award is given to a composer, lyricist, or librettist to encourage the creation of works of merit for musical theater and opera. The jurors were John Harbison (chairman), J. D. McClatchy, Shulamit Ran, Augusta Read Thomas, and Yehudi Wyner.

Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AUPAC) presents the next installment of the Larson Legacy Concert, showcasing the work of composer/lyricist, playwright, and performer Max Vernon -- a recipient of The American Theatre Wing's 2015 Jonathan Larson Grants -- on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

The producers of the RENT 20th Anniversary Tour announced today that single tickets will go on sale on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Citi Center box office, through www.citicenter.org  or by calling (866) 348-9738. The tour will play a two week engagement at the Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre April 11 - 23, 2017.

Highway Run Productions' 2015 smash-hit RENT was one of the fastest-selling shows at Hayes Theatre Co, selling out before it opened, and enjoying some of the most enthusiastic audience responses to date. The hit production returns to the intimate space from March 29 for a strictly limited three-week season.

The Public Theater presents the new musical SOUTHERN COMFORT that tells the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia. SOUTHERN COMFORT begins previews tonight, February 23 and will run through Sunday, March 27 in The Public's Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, March 7. 

Theatreworks USA will continue its 2016 weekend family performance series this Saturday, February 27th, with Charlotte's Web, a play by Joseph Robinette based on the Newbery Medal-winning book by E.B. White (Stuart Little, Trumpet of the Swan) with an incidental music score by Jeffrey Lunden (winner of the Lortel Award, Rodgers Award, and Jonathan Larson Award, and composer of Theatreworks USA productions of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Little Prince, and The Great Railroad Race). This 60-minute play is recommended for audiences age 5 and up.

The Wagner College Theatre has announced that the winner of this year's Stanley Drama Award is Mike Bencivenga of Astoria, Queens, N.Y., for his two-act play, 'Bad Hearts.'

George Street Playhouse today announced the cast of Laura Eason's Sex With Strangers, which runs March 8 through March 27 at the New Brunswick theatre.  Kyle Coffman (Newsies, West Side Story on Broadway) will portray young, brash writer Ethan Kane; JoAnna Rhinehart (TV's Elementary, Damages) will play novelist and teacher Olivia Lago.  The production will be helmed by George Street Playhouse Artistic Director David Saint.

CSULB University Players kicks off its spring semester with the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play Rent, written by Jonathan Larson and directed by Joanne Gordon. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Broadway premiere, Rent opens March 3rd and runs through March 19th.
