Washington Ballet to Host World Premiere of SLEEPY HOLLOW, 2/18

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Ballet is pleased to announce casting and libretto for the world premiere of Septime Webre's Sleepy Hollow, Wednesday, February 18 - Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater. The Company will be joined by guest artist, Xiomara Reyes, a principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre who will premiere the role of Katrina Van Tassel. Reyes studied at Cuba's National Ballet School. Prior to joining ABT, she danced as a First Soloist at the Royal Ballet of Flanders. Reyes joined American Ballet Theatre as a Soloist in 2001 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2003. Her awards include the Gold Medal for the Best Soloist at the International Ballet Competition of Chiclayo, Peru (1996), Best Couple Prize at the XIV International Ballet Competition in Varna (1990) and Silver Medal at the Cinquienne Concours International de Danse de Paris (1992).

The Hunts, from Chesapeake Virginia, will release their CD, We Were Young, on January 22nd, 2013 on The Orchard Digital Distribution Network. The album's first track, 'Make This Leap,' has already seen airplay from key market radio stations.

The group consists of seven siblings ages 14-23 including twin sisters Jenni & Jessi and five younger brothers Josh, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin & Jamison. Though the group is young, they are an experienced touring act averaging approximately 100 performances per year, to large performing arts theatre audiences nationwide. All seven Hunts are vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, well versed on guitar & bass, violin, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, piano & keyboards and drums & percussion.

PRISCILLA's WIll Swenson Directs FACING EAST Mormon Film

The New York Times reports today that Will Swenson (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Hair) will direct independent feature film adaptation of Carol Lynn Pearson's play 'Facing East.' Pearson is also writing the screenplay. The play centers on a family's struggle to come to terms with their Morman faith after losing their gay son to suicide. The subject mater is not far from Swenson's heart, as he witnessed similar struggles within his own childhood Mormon community. Say Swenson of the project: 'Getting through my own adolescence as a young Mormon was challenging as it was, but watching my best friend struggle with his identity as a gay teenager was heartbreaking.'
