However, under the watchful eye of the cheery, if slightly off, innkeeper, a ghost seems to haunt their crumbling relationship. Annie Baker's John was called "so good on so many levels that it casts a unique and brilliant light' by The New Yorker. John will run April 3 - April 29 in Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre.

BWW Review: CHARLOTTE'S WEB at Imagination Stage
by Elliot Lanes
- Nov 29, 2017
E. B. White's Charlotte's Web has been adapted in many ways. There was an animated movie musical back in the 70s, a live action film a few years back, and a stage adaptation that Theatreworks USA toured around the country for years. Imagination Stage in Bethesda is currently presenting the latter as its holiday attraction. The creative team takes a very heavy-handed approach to material that isn't that light to begin with, unfortunately.

BWW Reviews: THE CALL Asks Big Questions at Theater J
by Jeffrey Walker
- May 15, 2015
Tanya Barfield's THE CALL has come to the Atlas Performing Arts Center on H Street in a production that gives full value to the huge questions posed by the play. THE CALL does not give easy answers and that is just fine with me. But it sure makes you think.
Inspired by Barfield's own experience with international adoption, THE CALL is not a documentary by any means. This is a very human story, with one eye on the personal and one eye looking beyond to the big picture, a hallmark of brilliant theatre if there ever was one. Director Shirley Serotsky's precise direction enhances the global scope while remaining focused on Annie and Peter's bumpy road to parenthood.
BWW Reviews: PASSION PLAY presented by Forum Theatre
by Keith Tittermary
- Mar 25, 2015
When Sarah Ruhl was a student at Brown University, she embarked on a journey that would culminate in her sprawling epic, Passion Play, which was first performed at Arena Stage in 2005. Her three act tome tells the story of a group of actors performing the story of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each act is set in a different time frame, yet what happens off-stage, which vaguely mirrors the actions on stage, is the heart of the story.
