Cast, Creative Team Set for The Hub Theatre's 'PEEKABOO!' World Premiere

The Hub Theatre presents a nativity play like you have never seen by DC-native Anne M. McCaw. In PEEKABOO! A Nativity Play Mary and Joseph learn they are to be parents - of the world's savior no less - they get caught up in something much, much bigger than a couple of naïve kids are ready for. Directed by Hub Artistic Director Helen R. Murray, with musical arrangements by Jonathan Feuer, PEEKABOO! is a heartfelt farce of biblical proportions.

PEEKABOO! is an original Hub commission that was developed at The Hub Theatre through Hub's New Play Development program.

Playwright Anne M. McCaw is a native Washingtonian and the Artistic Director of The Inkwell. From 2007-2016, The Inkwell developed over 100 new plays on a national scale, supporting workshop productions of MONKEY ADORED by Henry Murray, YOU FOR ME FOR YOU by Mia Young, and A BID TO SAVE THE WORLD by Erin Bregman. Her plays have been read and produced by Rorschach Theatre, Forum Theatre's (Re)Acts series, eXtreme eXchange, Theatre Conspirac, and the Washington Theatre Festival. She was a finalist for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education's Jane Chambers Playwrighting Award.

Helen R. Murray is a director, playwright and the Artistic Director and co-founder of The Hub Theatre. Her original plays have been produced by The Hub, Theatre Alliance, ArtsWest, Malibu Playhouse, JCCNV and been seen at the Kennedy Center's Page to Stage Festival. Her play REDDER BLOOD (produced by The Hub in 2016) is the winner of the 2016 Jewish Playwriting Contest with the Jewish Plays Project. Her co-adaptation of WONDERFUL LIFE was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award, Outstanding New Play. Her play ABOMINABLE was nominated for the Steinberg New Play Award. She is the recipient of the Puffin Foundation Award and the Washington Canadian Partnership Award.

The cast of PEEKABOO! Includes Hub veterans Katie Jeffries Zelonka as Mary, Robert BowenA. Smith as Joseph, Jacob Yeh as Herod and Rose McConnell as Elizabeth, and new additions to The Hub Anderson Wells as Gabriel and Sophie Schulman as the Drummer Boy.

The production team for PEEKABOO! includes Jonathan Feuer (Music Director) Jonathan Dahm Robertson (Scenic Design), Mary Keegan (Lighting Design), Amy MacDonald (Costume Design), and Amy Kellett (Properties Design).
