It's the place to see and be seen this fall – FIRST SIGHT FASHION SHOW AND LUNCHEON! The Dallas Opera 2014-15 “Heights of Passion” Season opens with a stunning fashion show featuring styles by world-class Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, as well as, six custom-made gowns created by internationally renowned designers inspired by each of the operas presented this season. The lavish event, co-chaired by Lynn McBee and Nicholas Even, also includes a delectable gourmet luncheon. Elizabeth Kimple is the Chair of the luncheon.

The Apollo Chorus will perform Handel's "Messiah," its signature piece and annual holiday tradition, in two of Chicago's most elegant spaces: on Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave., and on Saturday, December 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Street. The annual performance of Handel's masterpiece includes some of the most joyful and memorable music from the Baroque period. The Apollo Chorus has presented Handel's "Messiah" since 1879, a record unmatched in the city of Chicago.

Opera Index presents its 34th Distinguished Achievement Award to the powerful and charismatic bass-baritone Eric Owens at its annual black-tie winter gala on Sunday, January 13. The gala, held in the Grand Salon of the JW Marriott Essex House at 160 Central Park South, begins at 6 p.m. with a reception in the Petit Salon. Presenting the award to Mr. Owens is a longtime champion of his career, Janet Stovin, the vice president of Opera Index. Last year's Distinguished Achievement Award was presented to opera pioneer and founder of Opera Orchestra of New York, Eve Queler.

Austin Lyric Opera (ALO) has announced the lineup of its 26th season (2012-2013). The season kicks off in November 2012 with Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, followed by Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro in January and February 2013. The season concludes with a new production of Gounod's Faust in April 2013. Current subscribers can renew their season tickets starting Monday, January 16.
