Auditorium Theatre, Ravinia Festival Co-Commission New Twyla Tharp Works

In a momentous co-commission, Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University and Ravinia Festival, will present two new works by world-renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp November 6 – 8, 2015. Celebrating 50 years of creating dance for both modern and ballet companies, television, Broadway and Hollywood, the program will be seen throughout North America during a 10-week anniversary tour to 15 cities, honoring Tharp's five decades of dance-making. The new works, each comprised of 12 dancers—many whom have worked with Tharp over the years—will have music by J.S. Bach, Henry Butler, Steve Bernstein and John Zorn.

According to the New York Times, dance legend Twyla Tharp, whose choreography has been seen on Broadway in such shows as Movin' Out and Come Fly Away, is going on the road. The choreographer will celebrate her 50th year in the business with a national tour that will eventually make its way to Lincoln Center on November 22, 2015. The 15-stop tour will feature twelve dancers and new works to the music of Bach, Henry Butler, Steve Bernstein and John Zorn.
An official schedule has not yet been announced.
Yara Arts Group Adds HITTING BEDROCK to Season

With a decisive battle mounting in the Eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk, Yara Arts Group has chosen to replace its upcoming production of 'Dark Night Bright Stars,' a play based on the friendship of a Ukrainian painter with an African-American actor in 1858, with 'Hitting Bedrock,' a new work based on first-person testimonials of refugees from Donetsk and people stranded there. La MaMa E.T.C. will present the piece February 20 to March 8 in its First Floor Theater 74A East Fourth Street, Manhattan. Virlana Tkacz directs.

2015 Grammy Award-nominee clarinetist David Krakauer and pianist Kathleen Tagg will perform as "Breath & Hammer" at The Princeton Symphony Orchestra's Mid-Winter Musicale Sunday, February 22, at 5 pm, at the home of Toni Besselaar in Princeton. The evening's program spans Brahms to Debussy, to Gershwin, plus new arrangements of songs by John Zorn and Kinan Azmeh, as well as traditional Klezmer music.
Meredith Monk to Premiere BACKLIGHT at Carnegie Hall, 2/16

Legendary composer, performer, vocalist, director and choreographer Meredith Monk continues the celebration of her landmark 50th season on February 16 at Carnegie Hall with the New York City premiere of a new work, Backlight, performed by the acclaimed Ensemble ACJW, for whom the piece was composed. Commissioned by Carnegie Hall-where Monk is honored to hold the 2014-2015 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair-the piece, which plays sonically with ideas of shadow and light, will have received its world premiere by the group just days earlier at the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York on February 13. For six consecutive nights, some of today's top artists from both the jazz and new music scene join Klucevsek in performing his pieces written over the past four decades (1972-2014), including three world premieres and seven New York premieres.
