Westfield Foundation to Fund Playwriting Residency for Senior Citizens

Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has announced its first playwriting residency for senior citizens, funded by the Westfield Foundation. This is the third Premiere Stages pilot program the Westfield Foundation has funded, having provided previous support for the launch of the now successful Camp Premiere for high school students, as well as for the launch of Liberty Live, which is entering its third year.

Global movie icon John Travolta, one of Hollywood's biggest and best-loved stars, just got up close and personal on stage in London's West End in A Conversation with John Travolta. Travolta, who was first catapulted to international stardom in the blockbuster Saturday Night Fever, which launched the disco phenomenon in the 1970s, treated the audience to an intimate evening of anecdotes about his illustrious career, private insights from his life as one of the world's most admired screen idols as well as taking part in a special question and answer session with audience members. The on stage interview was conducted by film critic, Barry Norman.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels cleaned up at the Glugs Theatrical Awards tonight, Monday 3rd February, winning a total of four awards including Best Musical. Sydney Theatre Company's The Secret River also walked away with the coveted Outstanding Theatre Production and Best New Australian Work awards.

Once again it is the time for the Glugs to venture out with their Theatre Awards. This year marks the Glugs' 55th year, even though awards were not given out until 1973. Only one award was given to David Williamson for Contribution to Theatre in 1973, and this year we are pleased to present a total of 18 awards.

The Sydney season of the devilishly cheeky, fun-filled Broadway musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will end on December 8, it was announced today by producer George Youakim from James Anthony Productions. The season had already been extended due to popular demand and wide-spread critical acclaim; however all good things must come to an end, with the final performance on Sunday December 8 at the Theatre Royal.

Due to popular demand and wide-spread critical acclaim, producer George Youakim from James Anthony Productions today announced that the season of the devilishly cheeky, fun-filled Broadway musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has been extended to December 8 at Sydney's Theatre Royal. New performances go on sale on Friday. Sydney audiences are rolling in the aisles to what the Sydney Morning Herald has labelled 'the best new musical to hit Sydney this century.'
