Cleveland Orchestra Presents THE STAR-SPANGLED SPECTACULAR on Public Square Tonight

The Cleveland Orchestra, under the direction of William Eddins, will perform in The Star-Spangled Spectacular brought to you by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, the Orchestra's 24th annual free community concert in downtown Cleveland, tonight, July 1, on Public Square. The concert will be hosted by ideastream's Dee Perry.

Amphibian Stage to Host 'Guilty Pleasures' Next Leap 2013 Fundraiser, 10/4

Amphibian Stage Productions yesterday announced that its annual fundraiser, Next Leap 2013: Guilty Pleasures Bash, will take place on Friday, October 4, 2013. The event, a 60's-themed celebration benefitting the non-profit theatre company, will take place at Amphibian's home at 120 South Main Street in Fort Worth.

A.J. McCaffrey Awarded $15,000 American Composers Orchestra Commission

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) is pleased to announce that composer A.J. McCaffrey has been named the winner of ACO's 2013 Underwood Commission, bringing him a $15,000 purse for a work to be premiered by ACO in the 2014-2015 season. Chosen from six finalists during ACO's 22nd Underwood New Music Readings on April 8 and 9, 2013, in one of the most coveted opportunities for emerging composers in the United States, A.J. won the top prize with his work Thank You for Waiting.

Pacific Symphony to Kick Off 2013 'Symphony in the Cities' Series

Dust off those lawn chairs and picnic baskets and head out to one of three Orange County neighborhoods for Pacific Symphony's 2013 Target Symphony in the Cities (SITC) concert series-free summer evenings of outdoor music and entertainment. Playing familiar and well-loved tunes by Shostakovich, Massenet, Strauss (Jr. and Sr.!) and American legends John Williams, Leonard Bernstein and John Phillip Sousa, the Symphony also performs alongside the family friendly doo-wop group, the Alley Cats and guest violinist Kotaro Tsutsumi! Target returns for the ninth year as the title sponsor of this popular event, which attracts thousands of people annually, many of whom bring friends and families and make it a full experience.

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Performs Concerts Statewide Tonight

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra continues its annual tradition of presenting summer concerts in outdoor venues throughout New Jersey. The Orchestra performs selections from Bizet's Carmen, Copland's Rodeo and Bernstein's West Side Story, alongside favorite tunes from Gershwin and movie classics like John Williams' Raiders March and more. Patriotic tributes include 'America the Beautiful' and Sousa's 'The Stars and Stripes Forever,' and the Orchestra honors servicemen and women with the moving Armed Forces Salute.

The National Symphony Orchestra Announces its 2013 Wolf Trap Summer Schedule

The National Symphony Orchestra today announced its 2013 line-up of performances at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Eleven performances will take place between June 26 and August 3, 2013. Emil de Cou, in his ninth season as NSO@Wolf Trap Festival Conductor, hosts 10 of the performances and conducts four, including the opening and closing performances in the series.

Bear McCreary Featured on Soundtrack for Syfy's DEFIANCE, Out Today

Sparks & Shadows, a new boutique record label founded by composer Bear McCreary, announces the release of the Defiance Original Television Soundtrack. The album, containing 22 tracks of original score, original songs and cover songs as heard in the first season of Defiance, will be available through all digital providers today, June 17th.

Area Student Musicians to Join Atlanta Symphony for Side-By-Side Concert, 6/27

Student musicians from the Atlanta area, including members of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) and Talent Development Program (TDP), will perform a Side-By-Side Concert with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Staff Conductor Jere Flint will lead the musicians in a program featuring the Prelude to Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, Bizet's Carmen Suite No. 1, and selections from Stravinsky's The Firebird and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, among others.

PCPA's FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Returns Now thru 7/6

Fiddler on the Roof, a gem from Broadway's Golden Age of musicals, moves to Solvang to launch PCPA's summer season. It plays from tonight, June 13 through July 6, performances are at 8pm. Fiddler is a celebration of life and its challenges. Trying to balance life - like a fiddler on a roof - Tevye attempts to hold onto his traditions despite sweeping social change that is upsetting his family values while threatening his town's very existence.

Twilight Concerts at Emory Set for July 11 & 18

Warm summer evenings are enriched with light, musical fare and family picnics at the 2013 Twilight Concerts, presented by the Emory Summer Concert Band under the direction of Scott Stewart, Director of Wind Studies at Emory University. This year, these free concerts take place Thursdays July 11 and July 18 at 8 p.m. in the Jenkins Courtyard of the Goizueta Business School.
