Alan Gilbert to Conduct Mozart's Three Final Symphonies, 11/29-30

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in a program of Mozart's three final symphonies - Nos. 39, 40, and 41, Jupiter - Friday, November 29, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 30 at 8:00 p.m. Classical 105.9 FM WQXR in New York will broadcast the November 30 concert live at 8:00 p.m. as part of a month-long festival on the music and life of Mozart.

Cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras and Singer Laurie Rubin Perform with LA Chamber Orchestra This Weekend

The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, presents the highly anticipated U.S. premiere of the orchestral version of Bruce Adolphe's Do You Dream in Color?, a powerful work set to a poem about living without sight written by rising mezzo-soprano Laurie Rubin. Born blind, Rubin, a 1997 Music Center Spotlight Awards winner, joins LACO for the premiere, marking her LACO debut, tonight, October 19, 8 pm, at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium, and Sunday, October 20, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall.

Juilliard School Launches Kovner Fellowship Program

Joseph W. Polisi, President of The Juilliard School, today announced the creation of the Kovner Fellowship Program at Juilliard that will be endowed with a gift of $60 million - the largest single one-time gift to the School - from Bruce and Suzie Kovner, long-time supporters of the School. Providing full tuition, and living expenses, the Fellowships recognize the excellence of Juilliard's classical music students and enhance the School's 100+ year tradition of attracting and developing the most talented musicians in the world.

Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Presents The American Masters, 11/3

Chamber music has been re-imagined at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Now under the auspices of Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, the new series will feature a chamber orchestra lead by Maestro Wesley Schulz as well as string quartets, trios and more. Programs will contain outstanding chamber repertory that you won't get to hear at regular BSO concerts.

Michael Krajewski Opens Philly POPS' VIVA PHILADELPHIA! Season with Guest Eddie Bruce, Now thru 10/13

It's a new era for The Philly POPS and a chance for audiences to share in the excitement of this first season under the baton of new music director Michael Krajewski. The Philly POPS opens its 2013-14 season with the theme 'Viva Philadelphia!' - a celebration of the City and of Philadelphia's Italian spirit as well as a demonstration of the maestro's special love for vocal music. It's a fitting theme, as the new maestro celebrates the City that will be another POPS home for this nationally recognized conductor. It's also fitting as this first series of The POPS 35th season falls on Columbus weekend, a time of special significance in a city with a rich Italian heritage. With performances tonight, October 11 through Sunday October 13, POPS concerts will continue to be presented in a series of Friday evenings at 8 p.m., followed by Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. at Verizon Hall of the KimMel Center for the Performing Arts on Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.

It's a party on stage! More than just a ghoulishly great way to celebrate, Pacific Symphony's "Halloween Masquerade" showcases the music and traditions of Halloween as well as two Latin American holidays-Dia de los Muertos and Dia de las Mascaradas. This Family Musical Mornings concert, presented by Farmers and Merchants Bank, is both spooky fun and educational, featuring thrilling and mysterious Halloween favorites such as John Williams' "Hedwig's Theme" from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and Paul Dukas' "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." Plus, selections from Stravinsky's "The Firebird" are magically coupled with famous Latin American compositions to inspire imaginations and introduce children to different cultures. The concert takes place Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Amphibian Stage to Host 'Guilty Pleasures' Next Leap 2013 Fundraiser, Today

Amphibian Stage Productions yesterday announced that its annual fundraiser, Next Leap 2013: Guilty Pleasures Bash, will take place today, October 4, 2013. The event, a 60's-themed celebration benefitting the non-profit theatre company, will take place at Amphibian's home at 120 South Main Street in Fort Worth.
