BWW Review: A Grand Night for Singing at The Pops

America's Orchestra opened its 129th spring season with Keith Lockhart conducting and Jason Alexander as special guest artist. Best known as Seinfeld's best buddy George Costanza, the Tony Award-winning Alexander is a consummate showman and offered a celebration of Broadway music to complement the Pops' selections by American masters from Copland to Ellington to Gershwin.

New York Philharmonic to Present 11th Season of SUMMERTIME CLASSICS, 7/2-6

The New York Philharmonic will present its 11th season of Summertime Classics, July 2-6, 2014, featuring five themed concerts with Bramwell Tovey, who has been the host and conductor of the series since its founding in 2004. On the first program, July 2-3, 2014, titled "Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Friends," the New York Philharmonic will perform Shostakovich's Festive Overture; Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1, with pianist Joyce Yang as soloist; Musorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain; Rachmaninoff's arrangement of his own Vocalise; and Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, and Marche slave. The second program, July 4-6, 2014, titled "Star-Spangled Celebration," will feature the New York Philharmonic and United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps - "The Commandant's Own," which is celebrating its 80th-anniversary year - in a program that includes Copland's Clarinet Concerto, with Associate Principal Clarinet Mark Nuccio as soloist, and Fanfare for the Common Man; Gershwin's "Strike Up the Band" from Strike Up the Band; Sousa marches; and more. In these performances Major Brian Dix, director and commanding officer of "The Commandant's Own," will share conducting duties with Bramwell Tovey.

Davis Gaines Stars in THE MUSIC MAN at Musical Theatre West, Beg. Tonight

Musical Theatre West presents the second production of their 61st season, Davis Gaines (Los Angeles' longest-running Phantom in The Phantom of The Opera) starring as Professor Harold Hill and Gail Bennett (Mary Poppins) starring as Marian Paroo in Meredith Willson's timeless and joyous, THE MUSIC MAN, book, music and lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey, musical direction by Corey Hirsch, choreography by John Todd and directed by Jeff Maynard.

Rehearsals for Women's Project Theater's THE ARCHITECTURE OF BECOMING Now Underway

The improbable 90-year history of New York City Center, the Moorish Revival theater on West 55th Street that is home to Fall for Dance and Encores!, is the inspiration for Women's Project Theater's second production of the season. The Architecture of Becoming is the creation of five playwrights and three directors who have intertwined secret societies, silent films, raucous parties, and the greatest performers of our time with five fictional lives woven through the dynamic history of this great landmark.

On display this month is the impressive talent of some of Southern California's most gifted young musicians, as two of Pacific Symphony's three Youth Ensembles' (PSYE) 2013-14 seasons begin with concerts in Irvine. Led by Music Director Joshua Roach, Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) enraptures listeners with a decadent American soundscape that combines present and past favorites, while Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings (PSSS) performs a robust program of music written by Russian composers.

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Youth Orchestras (CSOYO) opens their 2013-2014 season today, November 18 at 7:30pm at Brainerd Baptist Church with a concert performed by the Symphony Orchestra with Gary Wilkes conducting, featuring a new work by Frank Ticheli, Angels in the Architecture.

SONS OF ANARCHY Soundtrack Vol. 3 Available 12/3

Columbia Records Columbia Records, in partnership with FX and Twentieth Century Fox Television, proudly presents the third installment of music to FX's highest rated series, Sons of Anarchy. The soundtrack, Songs of Anarchy Volume 3 features a collection of thirteen songs, including the return of the Forest Rangers and brand new recordings from cast members Maggie Siff and Golden Globe Winner Katey Sagal. Sarah Kane's controversial drama 'Blasted,' which drew first outrage and then acclaim from audiences and critics when it had its premiere in 1995 at the Royal Court Theater Upstairs in London, will return to New York for a three week run this September at the Duo Multicultural Arts Center as Cryptic Fascination Theater Company's inaugural production.
