The Oregon Shakespeare Festival today announced six new commissions as part of American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle, OSF's multi-decade program of commissioning and developing 37 new plays about moments of change in United States history. The commissioned artists are Zakiyyah Alexander, Jaclyn Backhaus, E. M. Lewis, Mary Katheryn Nagle, Sara Nović, and Sanaz Toossi.

Julian Christopher, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, C.A. Johnson, and Abe Koogler have been selected as the 2019-20 Rita Goldberg Playwrights' Workshop Fellows. This year marks the 20th iteration of the Workshop, which was established by renowned playwright Arthur Kopit, and brings together emerging and established playwrights in a space where they are free to explore new material, without commercial pressures.

Steppenwolf's Ensemble is one of the most prestigious gatherings of names in theatre including stars such as Annette Bening, Laurie Metcalf and Tracy Letts. One among them also includes star of stage and screen Martha Plimpton, up until recently. According to the Chicago Tribune, Plimpton has withdrawn from the Ensemble.

Directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, Hillary and Clinton began performances at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street) on March 16, 2019, ahead of opening to critical acclaim on April 18, 2019.

Rehearsals begin for the world premiere of Lucas Hnath's "Dana H." at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in a co-production with Goodman Theatre. Adapted from interviews with Dana Higginbotham, conducted by Steve Cosson, directed by Les Waters and featuring Deirdre O'Connell in the title role, "Dana H." will begin previews May 26, open June 2 and continue through June 23, 2019.
