Youth Learn About Theatre Careers In TheatreWorks “Opening The Curtain” Series

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in partnership with Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) as part of the John F. Kennedy Center Partners in Education Program will inspire the next generation of budding artists with Opening the Curtain, a video series introducing PAUSD elementary students to the breadth of careers available in performing arts, including acting, tech, scenery, costumes, directing, administration, and more.

Rich Little Returns to Tropicana/Laugh Factory

Laughter will once again fill the room that has been eriely silent since the covid pandemic began in late February of 2020, as Rich Little, the legendary master mimic of more than 200 voices and arguably the most famous impressionist in the world, shares stories, jokes and anecdotes in the voices and mannerisms of other legendary icons such as John Wayne, Johnny Carson, Jimmy Stewart, Dean Martin, Andy Rooney, just to name a few.

Statewide Online Calendar of Accessible Arts Programming Launched by New Jersey Theatre Alliance 

The Cultural Access Network Project, a  program of New Jersey Theatre Alliance and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts is pleased to announce the launch of the Cultural Access Calendar, an online portal that allows the public to find cultural events, including virtual and online events, with specific accommodations such as open captioning, ASL interpretation, and sensory-friendly adjustments. The calendar will be searchable by specific accommodation and will feature a wide variety of offerings from the state's theatre, visual art, dance, music, and museum community.

artEquity Announces BIPOC Leadership Circle

artEquity, in partnership with Yale School of Drama, has announced the launch of its latest leadership program for fieldwide systemic change. The BIPOC Leadership Circle prioritizes, centers, and addresses the needs of BIPOC leaders in cultural arts institutions and comes at this particular time when values-based leadership is needed even more.

The National Ballet of Canada Closes 2020 Season at a Deficit

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, and Barry Hughson, Executive Director, today announced that the 2019/20 season concluded with a deficit for the first time since 2009, a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Annual General Meeting was held today at 7:00 pm virtually from Toronto.

Based on true events and strikingly relevant today, DAISY explores the moment in TV history when the political attack ad was born. In the autumn of 1964, one year after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, bloody turmoil over Civil Rights was spilling onto the streets, a fearful ideology that made the threat of nuclear war palpable was growing from the conservative right, and a skirmish in the far-off nation of Vietnam wouldn't go away. With the presidential election looming, an advertising agency working for Lyndon Johnson unleashed the most devastating political commercial ever conceived, the 'Daisy' ad.

OUR AMERICA: LIVING WHILE BLACK Docuseries to Premiere Oct. 19

ABC Owned Television Stations go beyond the statistics in a five-part docuseries, “Our America: Living While Black,” premiering MONDAY, OCT. 19 through FRIDAY, OCT. 23, airing a different series each day, culminating into an hour-long documentary that airs the weekend of Oct. 24.
