The Kennedy Center Welcomes JEKYLL & HYDE, Nov 20-25

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents Jekyll & Hyde November 20-25, 2012 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. After four years on Broadway and multiple world-wide tours, this dark and dangerous love story returns in a new production that includes all the classic songs "This is the Moment," "A New Life," and "Someone Like You." Conceived for the stage by Tony and Grammy Award nominee Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, the four-time Tony nominated musical Jekyll & Hyde features a book & lyrics by two-time Oscar winner, Emmy winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Leslie Bricusse, music by Frank Wildhorn, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun. Starring in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, American Idol star and Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis injects new life into the classic tale of good and evil, along with Grammy nominated R&B artist Deborah Cox. The show, currently on a 25-week national tour, will return to Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in April 2013. The press opening night will be on Tuesday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Kennedy Center to Re-Open Renovated Theater Lab, 11/12

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will officially open its renovated Theater Lab on November 12, 2012 at 6 p.m. with a performance of music and poetry. The evening will feature Grammy®-nominated jazz vocalist Gregory Porter in a performance curated by award-winning actress, director, playwright, and Artistic Director of the DC Hip-Hop Theatre Festival Kamilah Forbes. The program will blend Porter's music with the spoken word, highlighting works and performances by some of today's most innovative female poets, including Holly Bass, Mahogany Browne, Vanessa Hidary, and Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai. The one-hour performance will be streamed live on the Center's website and archived for future viewing.

RFK Play Sells Out in Philadelphia

New City Stage Company began previews of the Philadelphia premiere of 'RFK' by Jack Holmes on Wednesday, October 3 and the show has been selling out ever since. Arguably the highest rated play being performed in the greater Philadelphia area at this time, it has received rave reviews and 4 performances have been added in November as part of their community outreach program.

Giamatti, Thornton, & More to Star in JFK Film, PARKLAND

Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jacki Weaver have all officially signed deals to star in PARKLAND, the upcoming film based upon John F. Kennedy's assassination. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are set to produce through Playtone, with Exclusive Media financing the flick.

MTA UPDATE: Limited Bus Service Back at 5pm Today

The wrath of Hurricane Sandy threw a giant monkey wrench in New York City's public transportation system, with the 108 year-old subway system closed due to massive flooding. Not all the news is bad, however- MTA just announced that limited bus service will be restored today at 5pm, with more service coming tomorrow. Fares will be waived for the time being.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents DruidMurphy October 17-20, 2012 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. Told through three of the greatest plays by Tom Murphy including Conversations on a Homecoming on October 17 & 20, A Whistle in the Dark on October 18 & 20, and Famine on October 19 & 20, DruidMurphy is a major celebration of one of Ireland's most respected living dramatists. Directed by Garry Hynes, the DruidMurphy experience allows audience members to see each play individually or the full three- play cycle in one day. DruidMurphy is part of the etcetera! series. Oprah Winfrey Heading to Broadway?

TV talk-show host and Oscar nominee Oprah Winfrey appeared as a special guest anchor on this morning's GOOD MORNING AMERICA on ABC and revealed her plans to perform on a Broadway stage. "My dream is to do Broadway," asserted Winfrey. "That is going to happen."

SIDE SHOW's Bill Russell Talks Reivsal & Broadway Hopes

As BroadwayWorld first reported in March, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will produce, in association with La Jolla Playhouse, a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award® winning director Bill Condon, the musical will premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in the fall of 2013 and will play the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater beginning June 2014.
