Ping Chong + Company To Present UNDESIRABLE ELEMENTS FESTIVAL at La Mama E.T.C., 10/18 - 11/4

Since 1992, under the rubric of its UNDESIRABLE ELEMENTS series, the beloved Ping Chong + Company has created nearly 50 deeply moving theater productions that give voice to specific communities. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the initiative, the company will offer a festival of these works-including CRY FOR PEACE: VOICES FROM THE CONGO; SECRET SURVIVORS , featuring adult survivors of child sexual abuse; and INSIDE/OUT… VOICES FROM THE DISABILITY COMMUNITY - running from October 18 through November 4 at La MaMa E.T.C.

BWW Interviews: Music Box Musical's Cast Talks ASSASSINS, Masquerade Theatre & Cultural Significance of US Tragedies

When Masquerade Theatre closed earlier this year, many Houstonians felt pangs of anguish and hoped for an angel of theatre to bestow upon the organization a grant that would allow them to remain open. Masquerade, as far as we know, is not reopening; however, many of their former cast members have been assembled for Music Box Musicals' inaugural performance of their inaugural season-Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Tony Award Winning ASSASSINS.

Molly Ringwald To Speak At Nashville Public Library 9/18

Nashville Public Library presents Salon@615, an author talk series, beginning with Molly Ringwald on Sept. 18 at 6:15 p.m. on 615 Church Street. Actress and author Molly Ringwald will speak about her fiction debut When It Happens To You. Ringwald is the author of the bestseller Getting the Pretty Back: Friendship, Family and Finding the Perfect Lipstick. The event is free and open to the public.

James Black to Star in DEATH OF A SALESMAN at Alley Theatre, 9/28-10/28

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for the Alley Theatre's production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller and directed by Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd, begins performances Friday, September 28, opens officially Wednesday, October 3, and runs through Sunday, October 28 on the Hubbard Stage.

The Kennedy Center Presents J'nai Bridges in Free Recital Tonight, 9/10

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced that mezzo-soprano J'nai Bridges, recipient of the 2012 Marian Anderson Award-a grant for American singers in mid-career-will perform a free recital in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater tonight, September 10, 2012 at 6 p.m.

Four-Part Series PIONEERS OF THIRTEEN to Premiere 9/17

In honor of THIRTEEN's 50th anniversary on September 16, 2012, the flagship station of PBS is kicking off a year-long celebration the week of September 17-23, 2012 with the premiere of Pioneers of THIRTEEN, a four-part documentary chronicling the growth and breadth of the station's programming over 50 years.

Kennedy Center to Feature DRUIDMURPHY Series, 10/17-20

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents DruidMurphy October 17-20, 2012 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. Told through three of the greatest plays by Tom Murphy including Conversations on a Homecoming on October 19 & 20, A Whistle in the Dark on October 18 & 20, and Famine on October 17 & 20, DruidMurphy is a major celebration of one of Ireland's most respected living dramatists. Directed by Garry Hynes, the DruidMurphy experience allows audience members to see each play individually or the full three-play cycle in one day. DruidMurphy is part of the etcetera! series.

Kathleen Turner and More Set for Long Wharf Theatre's 2012-13 Season

Long Wharf Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Joshua Borenstein, announces the slate of plays for its 48th season. Subscriptions are currently on sale. Single tickets for the 2012-13 season will go on sale Wednesday, August 1.

LEAD Conference Comes to Boston, Now thru 8/24

In August of 2000, a small group of cultural arts administrators - all of whom were responsible for accessibility at their respective cultural arts organization - gathered at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. to discuss institutional cultural arts and disability issues. While the level of experience among participants ranged from more than 20 years in the field to less than six months on the job, everyone shared one common goal: the desire to create accessible cultural arts programs that are inclusive of people with disabilities and older adults.

Washington National Opera Welcomes Nathan Gunn in Concert, 9/23

Washington National Opera (WNO) presents American baritone Nathan Gunn in concert as part of its Celebrity Series on Sunday, September 23 at 4 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Accompanied by the WNO Orchestra under the baton of Tony Award winner Ted Sperling, Gunn will perform selections from operas by Mozart, Rossini, and Bizet, plus songs by Sondheim and other Broadway composers. American tenor William Burden will join him for a few duets. All three artists will make their WNO debuts with this performance.

Washington National Opera to Present DON GIOVANNI, 9/20-10/13

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2012-2013 season with Mozart's Don Giovanni, September 20 to October 13 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Powerhouse Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov stars in the title role for most performances, while Tony Award® winning Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot (South Pacific) sings the title role on October 9. This WNO production, last seen in 2007, is directed by John Pascoe and conducted by WNO Music Director Philippe Auguin.

Washington National Opera Presents ANNA BOLENA, 9/15-10/6

Washington National Opera (WNO) opens its 2012-2013 season with Gaetano Donizetti's Anna Bolena, September 15 to October 6 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Celebrated American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky returns to WNO to make her role debut as Anne Boleyn. This striking production, new to Washington, is directed by Stephen Lawless, and the WNO Orchestra will be led by Italian conductor Antonello Allemandi in his WNO debut.
