Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

NYU Skirball's 2017-18 dance season kicks off on September 15 with a FREE immersive dance party by the unconventional dance company AUNTS, and continues with the American premiere of Congolese choreographer Faustin Linyekula's In Search of Dinozord, a heart-wrenching look at the consequences of war, on September 22 and 23. The season, the first curated by Skirball's new director, Jay Wegman, will showcase diverse and cutting-edge international talent from Brussels, Denmark, France, Germany, Republic of Congo, the U.K. and the United States.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance prides itself in being a multi-ethnic dance company that is dedicated to the creation and presentation of contemporary dance that reveals the individual uniqueness and commonality of the human experience. Her choreography has been known to be bold and dramatic that connects life and movement. “A prolific choreographer of skillfully constructed dances that respectfully mesh with music and striking visual design” (The New Yorker), Jessica Lang and her company return to Jacob's Pillow for the ensemble's first Ted Shawn Theatre engagement, July 5-9. In addition to a Pillow-commissioned world premiere work, the program includes Lang's Thousand Yard Stare, a dance embodying the incredible pride and honor as well as the searing loss experienced by military veterans. The program will also include the East Coast and company premiere of Lang's Lyric Pieces as well as Solo Bach, Sweet Silent Thought, and The Calling. This season, the Pillow has formed a partnership with the Tanglewood Music Center, whereby Tanglewood Fellows and alumni will be providing the music accompaniment for this engagement.
???????Vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Aoife O'Donovan joins the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) in its annual free Labor Day concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, on Sunday, September 3, at 8 p.m. Guest conductor John Morris Russell leads the NSO and O'Donovan in a program of Americana featuring marches, folk music, and bluegrass-inspired songs, including O'Donovan-penned songs, "Red & White & Blue & Gold", "Magic Hour" and "The King of All Birds," plus the Bob Dylan song "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carrol."
