USM faculty cellist William Rounds performs Oswaldo Golijov's stunning solo cello work Omaramor then joins with USM alumna and former faculty member Elisabeth Marshall, soprano, presenting a collection of poems by Anne Bradstreet with music by James Kallembach. PSO principal oboist Amanda Hardy is then featured for a performance of an oboe/cello duo by Marilyn Zupnick. Finally, Rounds will perform the famed cello/bass duo by Gioachinno Rossini with PSO principal bassist Joseph Holt. Three of the works have been published within the last 20 years, making this a most relevant program for our time.

John Denver was one of the top recording artists of an era. He also was an active and recognized humanitarian and environmentalist. Denver's songs such as "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Rocky Mountain High", "Annie's Song", "Back Home Again" and scores of other beloved melodies were an introspection of love, nature, family, and home. Chris Collins, an award-winning singer/songwriter, who leads the band of Boulder Canyon, carries on the musical legacy that John Denver gave to the world. Their tribute makes a return stop at the State Theatre on Saturday, March 3.

With such accolades, it would be understandable if Louisa Branscomb chose to rest on her laurels at the comfort of her Alabama farm. Two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster and television and film star Hugh Bonneville were the special guests at this year's magnificent Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert. The performances were presented free of charge as a gift to the community Thursday, Dec. 14 through Saturday, Dec. 16 at the impressive 21,000-seat Conference Center. The concert will air nationwide on PBS and BYUtv during the 2018 holiday season, and a DVD and album will also be released. BroadwayWorld was generously given unprecedented access to the production, including the opportunity to speak with Foster, Bonneville, and conductor Mack Wilberg.

A leading figure among pops conductors across the country, Chafetz brings experience and innovation to his new role leading the Columbus Symphony in its year-round pops concert series.
