North Charleston POPS! To Host 'Select Your Seat' Open House Party 6/18

The North Charleston POPS! concert series will host a "Select Your Seat" open house party on Monday, June 18 from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Music fans are invited to come out and "select their seats" for the 2018-2019 season. The party features music, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, a wine tasting and backstage tours. Season ticket packages start at just $90.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre Brings Back RING OF FIRE, THE MUSIC OF JOHNNY CASH

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), the North Fulton professional theatre company, is partnering once again with The Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) to bring great music to summer nights in Roswell. Back by popular demand, GET will remount Ring of Fire, The Music of Johnny Cash on the Ben Brady Pavilion stage this summer at the CNC.

Company Of Fools Presents Woody Guthrie's AMERICAN SONG

Company of Fools (COF) will kick off its 23rd season of dynamic theatre programming in late June with Woody Guthrie's American Song, an ensemble musical based on the famed singer-songwriter's folk music and writings that was praised by The Seattle Times as "An exuberant musical celebration of our nation, our history, and our shared humanity." Directed by Kent Thompson with musical direction by R.L. Rowsey, the production will run June 26-July 15 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. Woody Guthrie's American Song is presented in conjunction with The Center's BIG IDEA project We the People: Protests and Patriotism.

First 'Relaxed Performance' at the VPP a Huge Success

Victoria Playhouse Petrolia (VPP) hosted a unique performance of GOOD OL' COUNTRY GOSPEL last night, in partnership with Community Living Wallaceburg. Referred to as a 'relaxed performance' the audience was filled with members of the community with sensory sensitivities, alongside their supporters, family and friends. Depending on the content of the show, various changes are made to the sound, lighting and overall guest experience to accommodate those attending. Over 150 patrons filled the theatre and had their spirits uplifted with the beautiful gospel music, singing and clapping along with the performers and even dancing from the audience.

North Charleston POPS! Announces 2018-2019 Season

The North Charleston POPS! 2018-2019 season concerts will feature something for everyone. The recently announced concerts include: PHANTOM, PANDOLFI & BEYOND on Saturday, September 8; COUNTRY LEGENDS on Saturday, November 3; GLORIOUS GERSHWIN! On Saturday, January 26; MARCH MADNESS: MUSIC INSPIRED BY SPORTS on Saturday, March 9; and MUSIC OF JOHN DENVER on Saturday, April 27. All shows will be performed at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.

San Diego Repertory Theatre Presents NATHAN GUNN - FLYING SOLO

As the final show of Season 42, San Diego Repertory Theatre presents The Hershey Felder Production of Nathan Gunn - Flying Solo, written and directed by Hershey Felder.  The show runs May 23-June 10, 2018, with the press opening on Friday, May 25 at 8pm on the Lyceum Stage in Horton Plaza.

The Art Of The Score To Return With New York Premiere Of AMADEUS: LIVE

The Art of the Score, exploring some of the most distinctive uses of music in film, will return for its fifth season with Amadeus: Live, the New York Premiere screening of Amadeus with the Mozart-centered score performed live to the complete film. Conducted by Richard Kaufman in his Philharmonic debut and featuring Musica Sacra, directed by Kent Tritle, Amadeus: Live will take place Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, April l4 at 7:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. On April 11 actor Alec Baldwin - Philharmonic Board Member and Artistic Advisor of The Art of the Score - and special guest F. Murray Abraham - who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Salieri - will introduce the film.

Cellist William Rounds to Perform Omaramor in 'Pairs: A Program Of Duos'

USM faculty cellist William Rounds performs Oswaldo Golijov's stunning solo cello work Omaramor then joins with USM alumna and former faculty member Elisabeth Marshall, soprano, presenting a collection of poems by Anne Bradstreet with music by James Kallembach. PSO principal oboist Amanda Hardy is then featured for a performance of an oboe/cello duo by Marilyn Zupnick. Finally, Rounds will perform the famed cello/bass duo by Gioachinno Rossini with PSO principal bassist Joseph Holt. Three of the works have been published within the last 20 years, making this a most relevant program for our time.
