Ari Edelson, John Cariani, Andrea Frierson and More Join DLDF's 'BANNED TOGETHER'

Banned Together: A Censorship Cabaret welcomes director, Ari Edelson (Building the Wall, 24 Hour Plays) and writer/performers John Cariani (Something Rotten, Author of Almost, Maine), Andrea Frierson (Me & Ella (author & star); Once on this Island- original Broadway cast) and Christine Toy Johnson (The Americans, The Music Man - Broadway revival).

New BENNY & JOON Musical Begins Tonight at The Old Globe

The Old Globe presents the first show of its 2017-2018 Season, the world premiere musical Benny & Joon, with book by Kirsten Guenther, music by Nolan Gasser, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. Based on the beloved 1993 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture written by Barry Berman and Leslie McNeil, Benny & Joon is directed by Jack Cummings III, Artistic Director of New York's Transport Group.

ALMOST, MAINE Opens Fall Season at Peninsula Players Theatre

 On a moonless night, the residents of a remote, mythical town find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways in the charming, offbeat comedy "Almost, Maine" by John Cariani.  "Almost, Maine" is the final play of the 2017 season at Peninsula Players and launches the theater into its fall season September 6 through October 15.  While the northern lights dance overhead, the not-so-tough women and men crack some beer and try to make sense of love. 

Jeff Awards Honor Peninsula Players Company Members with Nominations

Company members of Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater, celebrated the announcement of Chicago's 2017 Joseph Jefferson Award nominations with the listing of several current and past company members. The Joseph Jefferson Awards are Chicago theaters' equivalent to Broadway's Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards. 

Royal Family Productions and We So Hapa Join Forces for SONGS OF OTHERNESS

Royal Family Productions, a non-profit theatre company known for its innovative productions and development of new original work, is partnering with We So Hapa, a non-profit group founded to showcase multi-ethnic talent, for this diversity-centric, one-night-only cabaret event entitled Songs of Otherness on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Royal Family Performing Arts Space (145 West 46th Street, 3rd Floor).

Chester Theatre Company to Present FOLK this Month

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to present Tom Wells's Folk in the historic Chester Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA, from August 17 - 27, 2017. The production is directed by James Warwick, staging his eighth production for the company.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Hal Brooks, the Cape Cod Theatre Project has a history of presenting some of America's most exciting new plays, including: John Cariani's Almost, Maine, Lucas Hnath's Hillary and Clinton and Heidi Schreck's Grand Concourse. After each reading, audiences are invited to participate in talkbacks to assist in the development of the newly-presented works, many of which go on to off-Broadway, Broadway, or regional engagements.

John Cariani's CUL-DE-SAC Comes to Studio Series

???????Portland Stage Affiliate Artists present a 'Studio Series Workshop Staged Reading' of John Cariani's cul-de-sac, Monday, July 31st at 7:30 pm, followed by an open discussion between the playwright, director and audience, Portland Stage Studio Theater, 25A Forest Avenue in Portland. Tickets are a $10 in advance, or $15 at the door.
