When a person handles public relations for legitimate productions that are running in New York City or elsewhere, they are accustomed to setting up in-person interviews with various cast members of their shows and the media. These interviews result in positive exposure and become a vital form of publicity for the vehicle which is being promoted.

When a writer has done the number of celebrity interviews that I have, he realizes that there are a handful of celebrities he would never want to meet again. Most, however, are genuinely nice people and enjoyable to work with. There are others who become friends-true and genuine friends. Such is the relationship that has developed between me and Nick Spangler who is currently starring as Matt in the lovely revival of The Fantasticks which is enjoying a healthy run Off Broadway.
Tom Jones, lyricist, book writer and director of The Fantasticks, rang the closing bell at The New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, August 19. He was joined by cast members Nick Spangler and Margaret Anne Florence, who play Matt and Luisa in the revival.
Said producer Catherine Russell, 'As one of the great New York City theater traditions, The Fantasticks' appearance at the stock exchange is quite fitting and exciting. We are happy to ring the closing bell in the city The Fantasticks has called home for 48 years.'
The Fantasticks is a captivating and simple romantic comedy about a boy and girl who fall in love at the hands of their meddling fathers. The score, which includes 'Try To Remember,' 'They Were You' and 'Soon It's Gonna Rain,' is as timeless as the story itself.
