Horse Trade Theater Group Presents THE BEACHES 2 THAT STOLE CHRISTMAS, 12/12

Beaches 2 will steal your hearts (and souls) with their holiday themed sketch comedy show! God help us, every one. Featuring musical guest, Reggie Watts! The comedy show, presented by Horse Trade Theater Group and Beaches 2, will play at Under St Marks Theater (94 St. Marks Place between 1st and A) Sunday, December 12th @ 7pm. Tickets ($5) are available at the door. They serve beer!

David Hyde Pierce Stars as Scrooge in WQXR's Reading of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, 12/9

This year, a six-year-long WQXR tradition will continue with a little help from WNYC - and a Tony Award winner, too. On Thursday, December 9 at 5pm, the annual WQXR reading of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL will take place in the station's live performance venue, The Greene Space. WQXR personalities, including Jeff Spurgeon and Midge Woolsey, will be joined by WNYC hosts, including Kurt Andersen and Jad Abumrad, in a version re-imagined for stage and directed by WQXR's Elliott Forrest. Stage and screen actor DAVID HYDE PIERCE will star in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Tom Stoppard, one of the most celebrated dramatists of his time, cut his dramatic teeth on radio dramas at the BBC in the 1960s and 1970s. This December, The Greene Space at WNYC kicks off "T" is for Tom, a four-part series of rarely performed early works by England's intellectually nimble playwright.

Tom Stoppard, one of the most celebrated dramatists of his time, cut his dramatic teeth on radio dramas at the BBC in the 1960s and 1970s. This December, The Greene Space at WNYC kicks off "T" is for Tom, a four-part series of rarely performed early works by England's intellectually nimble playwright.

Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner served as presenters and 2011 Spirit Awards host Joel McHale was also on hand. Nominees for Best Feature include 127 Hours, Black Swan, Greenberg, The Kids Are All Right and Winter's Bone.

Olives Hosts Robot Slaves Black Sabbath Show, 11/20

'The Robot Slaves Black Sabbath Show' is proud to announce a special return performance at Olives on Saturday, November 20. 'The Robot Slaves Black Sabbath Show' performs high intensity renditions of Black Sabbath classics. They do not replicate or duplicate and they most certainly do not impersonate. They are enslaved by the music. They are enslaved by the band that created it. They deliver the Sabbath high, hard and heavy in a manor in which they believe their masters would approve. Special guest guitarist, Aaron Kipness of the legendary Black Sabbath tribute Into The Void , will perform with The Robot Slaves for this concert.
