National Sawdust Hosts The Future Is… Festival and Creative Forum

Both before and throughout the pandemic, National Sawdust’s mission has been to provide artists with financial and creative opportunities, audiences with access to groundbreaking work presented in remarkably high fidelity, and to support young creators by means of a rigorous mentorship network. These three goals serve as the inspirations for The Future Is… Festival, which takes place June 7 through June 16, features work by 6 composers and choreographers developing new work through residencies co-produced with the Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU, and funded by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation.

Actor and Musician Johnny Brown Has Died at 84

According to a Deadline article, Broadway veteran, musician, and screen actor Johnny Brown has died from unreleased causes. The news was announced in an Instagram post by his daughter, Sharon Catherine Brown. She stated, 'Our family is devastated. Devastated. Devastated. Beyond heartbroken. Barely able to breathe.'

31st Annual GOTHAM AWARDS Winners Announced

The Gotham Film & Media Institute (The Gotham)  announced the winners of the 31st Annual Gotham Awards at a ceremony held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on November 29.

Town Hall Theater Unveils Fresh Black History At August-October Art Exhibit

The Town Hall Theater will host “Dreaming of Timbuctoo,” a ground-breaking exhibit that unearths the little-known story of black land ownership in Vermont, opening Aug. 22 and running through September and October at the Jackson Gallery in Middlebury. The opening will be preceded by a panel discussion in collaboration with Rokeby Museum. The program and exhibit are free of charge.

EXHIBITING CULTURE Highlights from the Hammonds House Museum Collection Opens On August 6

Guests to Hammonds House Museum will have an opportunity to view artwork that has rarely been on display when the museum presents Exhibiting Culture: Highlights from the Hammonds House Museum Collection. The exhibition is curated by Hammonds House Museum's Executive Director and Chief Curator Karen Comer Lowe, and will be on view from August 6, 2021, through January 30, 2022.

DATA is written by Matthew Libby and the virtual production is directed by Susan V. Booth.
