Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and The Second City Present World Premiere of New Collaboration, Now thru 10/19

Hubbard Street Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton and Kelly Leonard, Executive Vice President of The Second City, Inc. are delighted to announce a collaboratively devised production by the two performing arts organizations, to receive its world premiere today, October 16-19, 2014, kicking off Hubbard Street's 2014-15 season at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park.

THE OFFICIAL BLUES BROTHERS REVUE Plays the Grand Tonight

Celebrate an evening of music and good times with The Official Blues Brothers Revue, tonight, September 20 at 8 pm at Galveston's Grand 1894 Opera House. Limited tickets are still available to this show, which was postponed last winter by airport-closing snowstorms.

Joe Piscopo took the stage at The Ciccone Theatre recently, and BroadwayWorld was on hand to snap some photos! As Joe Piscopo tells it, NBC in a moment of insanity replaced the original cast of Saturday Night Live (Dan Aykroyn, John Belushi, Gilda Radner etc) with Joe Piscopo and a new cast which included Eddie Murphy. After seeing Joe's act at a great venue in Paramus New Jersey named The Ciccone Theatre, I witnessed first hand the brilliance of the network's decision to put Joe in SNL in 1980.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton are pleased to announce the main company's 2014-15 season performances in Chicago, to include two weeks spotlighting a diverse trio of Princess Grace Award-winning choreographers, Hubbard Street's first performances of choreography by acclaimed artist Crystal Pite, and a celebration of Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo.

Second City Brings HAPPILY EVER LAUGHTER to Lincoln Theatre Tonight

Chicago's legendary comedy theatre, The Second City, presents Happily Ever Laughter, a hilarious revue featuring some of the best sketches, songs, and improvisation from its 53-year history. Drawing on classic material from The Second City archives as well as scenes ripped from the morning headlines, The Second City's Happily Ever Laughter is your chance to see comedy stars in the making in an evening of smart, cutting-edge comedy.

The Second City's Rock City Camp Now Accepting Applications

The Second City Training Center and School of Rock Chicago team up to introduce Rock City Camp: An Opera of Rock, a stage-writing performance camp for teens aged 14-19, beginning July 7. Over two weeks, musical all-stars with multiple performance skills in music and theater, will create an original storyline, learn rock music and develop original music to produce a never-before-seen show. Rock City Camp will take place July 7 - 18 at Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Sessions are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For consideration, please fill out an application HERE before the March 31 deadline. $1200. Needs-based scholarships are available.

Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy to Headline MAC Madness, 3/8

Popular TV and film actor Jim Belushi, who is also a Second City and College of DuPage alumnus, returns to the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at College of DuPage (425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn) with his improv group the Board of Comedy to mark the MAC's Grand Opening Celebration with a late night performance Saturday, March 8 at 9:30 p.m. The late night performance follows the 6 p.m. 'MAC Madness' benefit performance and party hosted by the College of DuPage Foundation. The performances are part of the MAC's 2014 Grand Opening Season that marks the completion of a 14-month, $35 million renovation.
