NYMF Hit VOLLEYGIRLS Receives New World Stages Development Prize

VOLLEYGIRLS, the breakout hit from the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), adds The New World Stages Development Prize Award to their list of accomplishments. VOLLEYGIRLS, produced by NYMF, MONICA RAYMUND of SISU THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS, and JACOB HARVEY of CAVE 76 PRODUCTIONS, performed to sold-out houses for nine performances in the 10th Anniversary Season of NYMF at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre (The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street, NY, NY 10036) in July.

Canadian Stage to Present LONDON ROAD, 1/19-2/9

Canadian Stage brings England's London Road to Toronto with North American premiere of 5-star musical documentary Written by Alecky Blythe and Tony Award-winning composer Adam Cork; directed by Jackie Maxwell at the Bluma Appel Theatre January 19 to February 9, 2014 Toronto, ON - Canadian Stage presents the North American premiere of London Road, the captivating 5-star hit from the UK created by playwright Alecky Blythe and set to music Tony Award-winning composer Adam Cork. Part musical, part documentary, the new Canadian production is directed by the Shaw Festival's artistic director Jackie Maxwell with music direction by Reza Jacobs. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast (Sean Arbuckle, Damien Atkins, Ben Carlson, Michelle Fisk, Deborah Hay, George Masswohl, Julain Molnar, Glynis Ranney, Fiona Reid, Steve Ross and Shawn Wright) London Road transforms the stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E) from January 19 to February 9, 2014.

The Road Theatre Company to Present World Premiere of THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH, Begin. 1/21

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, are thrilled to announce the second show of its 2013-2014 and 23rd season, the World Premiere of THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH, written by Clete Keith and directed by Road Theatre's Co-Artistic Director Sam Anderson. THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH will preview on Tuesday, January 21 & Thursday, January 23 at 8pm and will open on Friday, January 24 at 8pm and run through Saturday, March 15 at the Road Theatre Company's new second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

New Works from Stan Douglas, Chris Haddock & More Set for Canadian Stage's 2014-15 Season

Highlights include new work from Canadian artists Stan Douglas, Chris Haddock and Jennifer Tarver; remount of Robert Lepage's sold-out Needles and Opium; Spotlight South Africa festival; great theatre, dance, circus and music Toronto, ON - Canadian Stage today announced the 14 productions and collaborations featured in the 2014.2015 season. Artistic & General Director Matthew Jocelyn continues to make Canadian Stage a home for innovative live performance from Canada and around the world with a genre-defying line-up that celebrates the company's mandate to share daring work guided by a strong directorial vision. In addition to featuring acclaimed artists and productions from around the world, the upcoming season will share newly commissioned Canadian work with an international audience. Transfixing theatre, dance, circus, and music with a particular focus on multimedia performance will span Canadian Stage's three venues: the Bluma Appel Theatre, the Berkeley Street Theatre and the High Park Amphitheatre.

FPAC Opens THE NUTCRACKER Today

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) is pleased to announce casting for the 2013 holiday production of Tchaikovsky's timeless classic, The Nutcracker. A popular and highly-anticipated FPAC tradition for more than 20 years, The Nutcracker brings international ballet stars, world-class musicians and 100 area dancers to one suburban stage. Special guest artists Dalay Parrondo and Bradley Schlagheck, Boston Ballet soloists, will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier. Franklin's Nick Paone will reprise the role of Dr. Drosselmeyer. Delighting the imaginations of audiences of all ages, FPAC's magical journey of The Nutcracker will also feature a professional orchestra under the direction of Peter Cokkinias.

Art Basel 2013 Features Nearly 300 International Galleries in Miami Beach Today

In 2013 the Art Basel show in Miami Beach will feature 258 leading international galleries, drawn from 31 countries across North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The show presents artwork ranging from Modern masters to the latest contemporary works and includes, for the first time in Miami Beach, a sector dedicated to editioned works. Art Basel in Miami Beach, whose Lead Partner is UBS, will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center from today, December 5 to December 8, 2013.

2013-14 Kogod Cradle Series Features 11 New Works of Theater, Beg. Today

Following an open submission process, six projects have been selected for the 2013/14 Kogod Cradle Series, as part of the American Voices New Play Institute at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., S.W.). Focused on the development of new and emerging work by artists from throughout Greater Washington and around the country, this series of workshops, readings and performances invites artists and audiences to actively explore the development process.
