World Premiere of SOVEREIGN BODY Plays The Road Theatre, Now thru 5/10

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, are thrilled to announce in this, their 23rd season, the world premiere of SOVEREIGN BODY, written by Emilie Beck and directed by Scott Alan Smith (That Good Night, Lady). SOVEREIGN BODY will preview tonight, March 22 at 8pm; Sunday, March 28 at 2pm and Thursday, March 27 at 8pm and will open on Friday, March 23 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 10 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, CA.

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, announced today that the world premiere of SOVEREIGN BODY, written by Emilie Beck and directed by Scott Alan Smith (That Good Night, Lady) will now preview on Saturday, March 29 at 8pm; Sunday, March 30 at 2pm and Thursday, April 3 at 8pm and will open on Friday, April 4 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 24 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, CA.

Electric Youth, an International Touring Ensemble, Debuts at Showcase Live Today

Electric Youth (EY) 2014, the international touring ensemble of talented singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), will debut at Showcase Live, Patriot Place, in Foxboro tonight, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. Backed by the eight-piece Boston Show Band, Electric Youth delivers a fun, energetic evening of high-powered family entertainment. EY's show features an extensive range of contemporary pop and classic rock hits fully choreographed to delight audiences of all ages. Distinguished Concerts International to Present LUST AND LA FEMME MYSTIQUE, 3/10

Distinguished Concerts International New York presents an evening of musically epic proportions, featuring Carl Orff's 1936 masterwork Carmina Burana, as conducted by revered conductor Vance George, with a beautiful selection of music for women's chorus in celebration of International Women's Day, conducted by Hilary Apfelstadt and performed by 16 outstanding choruses hailing from across North America; Vienna; Hong Kong; Munich; Curitiba, Brazil; and Brunswick, Australia. The Road Theatre Company and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director, together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, are thrilled to announce that the second show of its 23rd season, the World Premiere of THE DIFFERENT SHADES OF HUGH, written by Clete Keith and directed by Road Theatre's Co-Artistic Director Sam Anderson, is extending through Sunday, March 30 at the Road Theatre Company's new second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

Pearl and the Beard Performs at Capitol Center for the Arts Spotlight Café Tonight

Brooklyn, New York based trio Pearl and the Beard brings their genre-bending sound to the Capitol Center for the Arts Spotlight Cafe as part of the On The Edge series tonight, February 21, at 7:30pm. The group's three-part vocal harmonies and eclectic instrumentation, featuring a mix of cello, guitar, glockenspiel, and drums, has been heard on NPR's World Cafe and earned the group opening spots for singer-songwriters Ani DiFranco and Ingrid Michaelson. Tickets for this intimate performance are on sale now and start at $15.

Soho Rep. announces casting and performance dates for the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's An Octoroon, directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson. The production, April 23-May 18, concludes a banner New York season for the celebrated playwright, whose Appropriate makes its New York premiere February 25-April 6 at Signature Theatre.

Meredith Monk Announces National and International Performances, Releases, Residencies

Five decades later and still blazing new trails, Meredith Monk began preparation for her Fiftieth Year celebration with the January 29 announcement of her appointment as the 2014/15 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair at Carnegie Hall. Her spring calendar, a prelude to her 50th anniversary events, is crammed with New York, national and international performances, record and CD releases, workshops and residencies designed to showcase Monk's groundbreaking work past and present.
