Ann Randolph's LOVELAND Set for Kogod Cradle Series at Arena Stage, 3/18-4/23

Building on critical acclaim for her one woman show, writer/performer Ann Randolph (Squeeze Box) will join the 2013/14 Kogod Cradle Series at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in a special extended presentation of her latest American comedy Loveland, an 'unforgettable, over-the-top comedy that forces people to think' (The Huffington Post). Following each performance, Randolph will guide audience participants through a mini writing workshop to explore the transformative and healing power of expressed personal grief. The combined performance and post-show experience will mark the launch of Randolph's national Good Grief Tour, an interactive experience that aims to spark a national discourse on grief with audiences around the country. Loveland, directed by Joshua Townshend, runs March 18-April 13, 2014 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.

The Collision Project's MARISOL Opens Tonight

The Collision Project a new Seattle-based artistic collaboration, announces its company debut with their production of Marisol by Jose Rivera, directed by The Collision Project's Co-Artistic Director Ryan Higgins (2012 Gregory Award winner for 'Outstanding Actor' in Live! From the Last Night of My Life, former Artistic Director of Balagan Theater) Marisol opens tonight, February 7th 2014 and is performed at The Satori Lab at Inscape in Seattle.

Electric Youth, an International Touring Ensemble, Debuts at Showcase Live, 2/28

Electric Youth (EY) 2014, the international touring ensemble of talented singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), will debut at Showcase Live, Patriot Place, in Foxboro on Friday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. Backed by the eight-piece Boston Show Band, Electric Youth delivers a fun, energetic evening of high-powered family entertainment. Lark Hotel to Open The Break in Narragansett, Rhode Island

Lark Hotels, a collection of designer boutique properties located in iconic coastal New England hot spots, has announced the launch of its newest hotel, The Break, grand opening in Narragansett, Rhode Island in June 2014. The property, a new build, will feature a retro chic surf vibe and will be the first hotel of its kind in this historic seaside town, which boasts some of the best surf breaks in New England.

Canadian premiere of Nina Raine's award-winning play TRIBES set to open February 2

Canadian Stage presents the Canadian premiere of Tribes, the sharp, daring and jarringly emotional play by Nina Raine recognized by the 2012 Drama Desk and New York Theatre Critics Circle Awards. Tribes is directed by Daryl Cloran and features Stephen Drabicki, Patricia Fagan, Holly Lewis, Nancy Palk, Dylan Trowbridge and Joseph Ziegler on stage at the Berkeley Street Theatre (26 Berkeley Street) fromFeb. 2 to Mar. 2, 2014.

Woolly Mammoth to Host Staged reading of 'FACING OUR TRUTH,' 2/5

In commemoration of the birthday of the late Trayvon Martin, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will join theatres across the country in producing a staged reading of Facing Our Truth: Ten-Minute Plays on Trayvon, Race, and Privilege on Wednesday, February 5 at 7:30pm in the Melton Rehearsal Hall at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. Activities will also include an activism fair to begin at 6:30pm and a post-read panel discussion. The reading, discussion, and activism fair will be co-presented with African Continuum Theatre Company.

The 2013/14 Kogod Cradle Series continues in the new year with the Helen Hayes Award-winning Commedia dell'Arte troupe Faction of Fools, who are bringing their devilish sense of humor and trademark masked comedy style to Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town. The following month, award-winning Resident Playwright Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale) invites audiences to join him for open workshops for two of the new plays created during his residency, Lewiston and Clarkston. In March, the six members of the inaugural Playwrights' Arena (Norman Allen, Randy Baker, Jacqueline E. Lawton, Heather McDonald, Danielle Mohlman and Shawn Northrip) will introduce selections from the six plays they have each been working on independently as part of their yearlong collaborative program. Our Town runs January 9-12, 2014, Lewiston and Clarkston run February 6-9, 2014 and Playwrights' Arena-A Weekend of New Work runs March 6-9, 2014 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.

Pearl and the Beard to Perform at Capitol Center for the Arts Spotlight Café, 2/21

Brooklyn, New York based trio Pearl and the Beard brings their genre-bending sound to the Capitol Center for the Arts Spotlight Cafe as part of the On the Edge series on Friday, February 21, at 7:30pm. The group's three-part vocal harmonies and eclectic instrumentation, featuring a mix of cello, guitar, glockenspiel, and drums, has been heard on NPR's World Cafe and earned the group opening spots for singer-songwriters Ani DiFranco and Ingrid Michaelson. Tickets for this intimate performance are on sale now and start at $15.

Children's Theatre Company Receives $75K NEA Grant to Support New Work

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that Children's Theatre Company (CTC) is one of 895 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. CTC is recommended for a $75,000 grant to support the commissioning and production of new work for young audiences.
