Canadian Stage to Launch INTERMISSION, A New Event Series for the Culturally Curious, 5/15

Canadian Stage today announced details for INTERMISSION, a new event series that combines multiple art forms to create an immersive cultural experience. Taking place once a month from May to July 2014, the series builds on the success of the company's Berkeley Street Block Parties, which have included a 90s-themed dance party with special guest Jason Priestley and a post-show karaoke night with the cast of Venus in Fur. INTERMISSION continues Canadian Stage's tradition of animating the historic Berkeley Street Theatre (26 Berkeley Street) with a variety of performances including live music, contemporary art, tasty refreshments and interactive experiences.

CRAZY FOR YOU Begins Previews Tonight at Stratford Festival, Kicks Off 2014 Season

Fresh from her triumph with last season's hit musical, Fiddler on the Roof, acclaimed director and choreographer Donna Feore returns for her 20th Festival season with an exciting new production of Crazy for You specially conceived for the Festival Theatre's thrust stage. The new Gershwin musical begins previews tonight, April 21, marking the first performance of the 2014 season.

Yale Rep Stages World Premiere of THE HOUSE THAT WILL NOT STAND, Now thru 5/10

Yale Repertory Theatre, in a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, presents the world premiere of The House that will not Stand by Marcus Gardley, directed by Patricia McGregor. The House that will not Stand will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) today, April 18-May 10. Opening Night is Thursday, April 24.

Ross Valley Players Present RAW 2014 Spring Festival, Feat. GIOVANNI IS HERE, Now thru 4/27

ROSS VALLEY PLAYERS present their RAW (Ross Alternative Works) 2014 Spring Festival, today, April 18 through 27, featuring the World Premiere of Giovanni is Here by Mercedes Cohen. Each season, RAW presents two festivals of short works or full-length plays, selected for their quality and originality. Each play is a short run production with minimal set pieces with full sound and lighting.

Soho Rep Extends AN OCTOROON Through 5/24

In response to popular demand and one week before performances begin, Soho Rep. extends the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's An Octoroon, directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, to May 24. Performances of An Octoroon will now take place April 23-May 24 (see schedule above) at Soho Rep. Critics are welcome as of Wednesday, April 30 for an official opening of Sunday, May 4 at 7:30pm.

Seattle Public Theater to Present Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA, 5/15-6/8

Seattle Public Theater (SPT) at the Bathhouse on Green Lake is proud to present Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, directed by SPT Artistic Associate, Kelly Kitchens (SPT's The Understudy, The Santaland Diaries, and Book-It Repertory Theatre's She's Come Undone). Arcadia previews May 15th, and opens May 16th to June 8th, 2014.

Experience America's First Victory at Fort Ticonderoga in NO QUARTER Reenactment, 5/10-11

Fort Ticonderoga kicks off the 2014 season May 10-11 with its “No Quarter” event recreating the capture of Fort Ticonderoga on May 10, 1775. In this weekend-long recreation visitors will experience “America's First Victory.” Throughout the weekend, visitors will explore this dramatic story from the perspectives of both the British garrison and the Green Mountain Boys and come face-to-face with the historical characters including Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold.

Award-winning choreographer Crystal Pite (Dark Matters, The You Show) returns to Toronto with her newest work, The Tempest Replica. Presented by Canadian Stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre for five performances only from May 7 to 11, Pite's critically acclaimed company Kidd Pivot transforms one of Shakespeare's final plays, The Tempest, into an innovative dance creation.

Chance Theater to Present A CELTIC HOLIDAY WITH CRAIC IN THE STONE, Begin. 12/9

Chance Theater has announced its sixth and final production for its 2014 Season - an original musical celebration for the holidays, A Celtic Holiday with Craic in the Stone. Written by resident artists Jocelyn A. Brown, David McCormick, James McHale, Jennifer Ruckman and Bill Strongin, along with Aimee Gomez, Karen O'Hanlon and Scott B. Well. A Celtic Holiday with Craic in the Stone will preview on Tue, December 9. The press performance is on December 10. Regular performances begin December 11 and continue through December 23 at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

Road Theatre's World Premiere of Emilie Beck's SOVEREIGN BODY Opens Tonight

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, announced that the world premiere of SOVEREIGN BODY, written by Emilie Beck and directed by Scott Alan Smith (That Good Night, Lady) opens tonight, April 4 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 24 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, CA.

HELEN LAWRENCE Launches 2014 International Tour

Helen Lawrence, a highly anticipated new Canadian production at the frontier of new media use in performance art, marked its world premiere on March 19 in Vancouver before launching an international tour. The mixed-media project, produced by Canadian Stage with co-producers Arts Club Theatre Company (Vancouver) and The Banff Centre (Alberta), will travel across Canada and Europe in 2014 with stops in Montreal, Munich, Edinburgh and Toronto.
