World-class jazz pianist Hal Schaefer died this past Saturday morning, December 8, at his home in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was 88 years old and still active.

59E59 Theaters has announced the roster of shows for the Fall 2012 Season, including the New York premiere revival of Stephen Schwartz' WORKING, beginning Dec. 1, 2012. This is the newly revised, critically acclaimed version of WORKING that recently had a successful run at the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago, after premiering at the Asolo in Sarasota and Old Globe in San Diego.

For six weeks this summer, SWINGTIME SALUTE, An On-Deck Revue will re-create a touring variety show on deck of the Battleship Wisconsin in an evening of star-lit entertainment. SWINGTIME SALUTE performances will be held Thursday through Sunday evenings at 8:00 pm from tonight, May 31 through July 8.

Formed by popular demand in 1956, the band has been touring consistently, playing an average of 300 live dates a year around the globe to millions of fans. Led by musical director Nick Hilscher, the band remains devoted to the Miller sound, interpreting such standards as "String of Pearls," "Tuxedo Junction," "Little Brown Jug," and, of course, "Pennsylvania 6-5000."

As part of "A Moment in Time" Series, The Capitol Center Orchestra, under the direction of Clayton J. Poole, will pay tribute to Paul Whiteman the "King of Jazz" on Sunday January 15th at 4pm at the Capitol Center for the Arts. The performance will feature the original 1924 version of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with critically acclaimed piano soloist Frederick Moyer and special guest vocalist Ms. Patty Barkas. Tickets start at $22.

The Palais Royale - South Bend's Premier Event Facility -- is pleased to host its tenth annual New Year's Eve gala event on Saturday, December 31, which starts at 8:00 p.m. By popular request, this year's event features the return of The Tom Milo Big Band, an 18-piece big band well-known to dance couples, playing a wide selection of music, ranging from the Glenn Miller tunes of the 40's, to Frank Sinatra, to the contemporary hits of artists such as Whitney Houston and Billy Joel. Many of the band members have toured with top name musicians such as Stan Kenton, Les Elgart, Duke Ellington, and others.
