Every Tony Needs a Tina! BestofOffBroadway.com announced the first annual Tina Award nominations today, honoring the top Off-Broadway productions of the 2010-2011 season.

Desperate Writers, a new comedy, will make its East Coast premiere when it begins performances next week, on Monday, May 16 at the Union Square Theater (100 East 17th Street at Park Avenue South).

The fully-staged, full-length revival of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, a musical based on Betty Smith's iconic American novel of the same name, will close in New York City April 10, 2011.

Jacques Brel Returns announced that it will be extending its run through March at The Triad, 158 West 72nd Street, NYC. March dates are Wednesday, March 16, Wednesday, March 23 and Wednesday, March 30 All at 8pm. Presented by Dan Whitten, Mark Beigelman, Peter Martin and Tiger Theatricals, Jacques Brel Returns is a new cabaret production featuring highlights from Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris as well as Brel songs not in the original score.
