Two heartwarming holiday specials that many of today's parents grew up with on television are making their cinematic debuts when Fathom Events and The Jim Henson Company present “Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas” and “The Bells of Fraggle Rock” on December 10 and 16 only.

Fresh off his Oscar win for “The Shape of Water,” Guillermo del Toro will make his animated feature film directing debut with 'Pinocchio,' according to Variety. Del Toro, who will write and produce the film as well, has received the green light from Netflix to film the stop motion musical version of the classic children's tale about a puppet who wants to be a real live boy.

Scattered and single seats are all that remains for the November 18th Neil Gaiman appearance at Benaroya Hall. Historically David Sedaris sells out his Seattle events and it appears as if this year will be no different. At present, very few Sedaris tickets remain available for his November 19th appearance. Puppet-based production company, the Jim Henson Company has joined the Knights of Panterra, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Amazon Studios today announced it has signed an overall television deal with visionary and award-winning writer Neil Gaiman. The creator of the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Good Omens and the Hugo Award-winning book American Gods, Gaiman will exclusively work with Amazon Studios on the creation of television series which will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.

Emery Entertainment announced today that the three-time Tony Award-winning smash hit musical AVENUE Q will extend its engagement for three more weeks. The show will open January 25 and run through March 3 at the Playhouse @ Westport Plaza.

It is a fantastic time for fantasy novels. More and more are being picked up by studios for development thanks to the smashing success of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and, most recently, Game of Thrones.
