The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts virtually hosted more than 110 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF).

 The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, will present Head Over Heels, featuring songs by the Go-Go's.

Until October 27th, Wayne State will be showcasing their sold-out production of Heathers: The Musical at the 110-seat theatre, Underground at the Hilberry. Based on the 1988 movie, Heathers: The Musical has music, lyrics, and a book by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy.

Wayne State University's production of Mamma Mia!, running now through April 14th, will leave you singing and dancing in your seat. Using the songs of Swedish supergroup ABBA, Mamma Mia! follows the life of Sophie Sheridan in the days before her wedding in Greece. She wants her father to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. The only problem is she has no idea who her father is. Sophie looks through her mother's old diaries and discovers that her father must be one of three possible men. She invites them all to her big day in an attempt to discover who her real father is. Trouble ensues as these three men all meet for the first time, all thinking they are Sophie's father. Sophie's mother Donna has to live with the daunting reality of her past coming back to haunt her on her daughter's big day. Wayne State's production of this jukebox musical is exhilarating, upbeat, and energetic.

This December the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, offers two terrific theatrical experiences for you and your family to choose from! Ebenezer Scrooge is back with his humbug ways from Nov. 30 through Dec. 16 at the Bonstelle Theatre, while Durang's hilarious family farce takes over the Studio Theatre at the Hilberry from Dec. 7 through 16.

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, part of the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, continues its yearly community outreach efforts with a free touring production of "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales," written by John Glore and based on the beloved children's book written by Jon Scieszka and illustrated by Lane Smith.

Planet Ant will close out its 2016-17 season with the musical play, Failure: A Love Story by Phillip Dawkins April 28 - May 20.

Planet Ant is set to present Macdeath, an original musical adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Scottish Play,' Macbeth, February 24 - March 18. Tickets ($10-$20) are on sale now online at www.planetant.com.

Theatre and Dance at Wayne continues its 2016 - 17 season with the adventurous Alice in Wonderland at the Bonstelle Theatre running October 7 - 16 . Based on Lewis Carroll's classic children's book , this energetic production follows a young girl named Alice , as she falls down a rabbit hole and embarks on a bizarre and extraordinary journey to discover her true identity.

Now on stage at the Hilberry Theatre at Wayne State University is The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance production of THE GREAT GATSBY.  This moving drama tells the story of greed, betrayal and inequality in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.  The young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby (played marvelously by Santino Craven) has a  quixotic passion and obsession for the beautiful former debutante Daisy Buchanan (played beautifully by Devri Chism).  The drama brings the classic 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald to life.

Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, adapted by Simon Levy, featuring the memorable characters of the story interacting in its famous Gilded Age setting.
