San Francisco North Bay theatre companies did well at the 2018 Theatre Bay Area Awards, which were held on Monday, November 5 at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco.

San Francisco North Bay theater artists gathered Monday night at the Juncture Taproom and Lounge in Santa Rosa for the Third Annual Marquee Theater Journalists Association Awards. Seventeen awards were given to local theatre artists and productions whose nominations were culled from the sixty-six Sonoma County productions attended by members from September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018.

With a jubilant, Grammy Award-winning score including jazz, gospel, ragtime and blues, THE COLOR PURPLE has become Theatre Horizon's hottest selling ticket. Now, this regional premiere production will be the earliest extension in the company's history! Theatre Horizon is proud to announce that the musical will now run from November 8, 2018 through December 16, 2018. It is the first ever six-week run for the professional theatre company located in Norristown, PA.

Theatre Bay Area, the third-largest regional theatre service organization in North America, announced the finalists for the 2018 TBA Awards. The fifth annual TBA Awards Celebration will be held on Monday, Nov. 5 at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco). Tickets for the public go on sale Friday, September 28, 2018, through City Box Office.

New Ohio Theatre is presenting an encore run of Francesca Montanile Lyons hit show, 'DEAR DIARY LOL' that was performed at the 2018 Ice Factory Festival. The show will be on stage from 9/26 to 9/29.

As part of the Vancouver International Film Festival's VIFF Live! program, RZA, the award-winning musician, film director and leader of rap group Wu-Tang Clan, will live-score the Shaw Brothers' Kung Fu classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin on October 9, 2018 at the Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe Street). The film was a huge inspiration for the artist and his fellow Wu-Tang members, and prior to the show RZA will be at the Rio Theatre (1660 E. Broadway; 19+ only) to discuss his love of martial arts movies, as well as his creative process and experiences as a film director and composer. Tickets for these events, as well as Kid Koala Presents: Satellite - Turntable Orchestra–a part of VIFF's previously announced M/A/D stream–are also on sale. Originally scheduled to close on July 29th, Chance Theater will be adding the following performances: Friday, August 3 at 8pm; Saturday, August 4 at 3pm & 8pm; Sunday, August 5 at 3pm.  The Walnut Street Theatre will host an exclusive one-night-only concert as this year's annual Gala. The concert, America Sings!, features several Walnut favorites performing over 20 American and Broadway standards. The concert will take place on the Walnut's mainstage on Friday, May 4 at 7:00PM.
