As everyone is getting ready to bid farewell to 2016 and welcome in 2017, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is preparing to host a very special New Year's Eve event to help mark the occasion.  Every few years, Way Off Broadway hosts a New Year's Eve event and this is one of those years! 

One of the staples of the holiday season is, without a doubt, The Nutcracker. As Christmas rolls around each year, countless productions of the classic Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky ballet are performed around the world.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick area's only year-round professional producing theatre, continues its 2016 Mainstage Season this fall with a production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's fairytale inspired musical, Into the Woods. The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre has become known for not only its productions of classic Broadway musicals but its part in bringing a number of area and regional premieres to the Frederick stage. In 2009, Way Off Broadway was one of the very first theatres in the country to receive the rights to produce The Wedding Singer, an 80's inspired musical comedy based on the Adam Sandler film. In recent seasons, the theatre, the Frederick -area's only year-round professional producing theatre, has produced several movies-turned-musicals. In fact, the 2013 Season was named "Hollywood Meets Broadway," all of the shows having been hits on the silver screen and Broadway stage.

             Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people.  Throughout the show, Arthur, traveling with his servant Patsy, recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad.  On their way, they meet the Lady of the Lake, Not Dead Fred, the Black Knight, and the Knights who say Ni.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick area's only year-round professional producing theatre, is getting ready to open its 100th Mainstage production this spring with the hilarious backstage farce Noises Off.

 The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has become the place to see everyone's favorite storybook and fairy tale characters come to life on the stage. From its own original adaptations to those direct from the movies and television, the Children's Theatre provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy. Audiences during the 2015 Season have already gotten to spend an afternoon with the Berenstain Bears and journey down the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy and her friends from Oz. This fall, audiences will go on a jungle adventure with Disney's The Jungle Book.

Following its 20th Anniversary Season during 2014, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will be kicking off its next season, the 2015 Season, with a classic murder mystery by the Grande Dame of mystery writers, Agatha Christie. The new season will begin on January 9th with And Then There Were None.

The stage at The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will once again ring with the sounds of Christmas when the theatre's 2014 Season concludes with its final production of the year, It's Christmas! The musical variety show will close Way Off Broadway's 20th Anniversary Platinum Season, which has been a year of celebration.

Beginning tonight, November 22nd, The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway will be reviving its original production of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, which first appeared at the theatre during the 2010 Season.

At the end of 2013, The Way Off Broadway Children's Theatre announced that it would be opening its 2014 Season with the brand new musical Tilly the Trickster, based on the book by Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon. With the beginning of the new year, casting for the area premiere production has been announced.
