Voting has opened for the 2015 BroadwayWorld Philadelphia Regional Awards! Check out the latest live stats as of November 27th. Nominations were reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors. Voting runs through December 31.

 Broadway veteran Kelly Briggs,Les Miserables and CATS, along with musical director John McMahon will bring their award winning Cabaret 'StorySong' to the Media Theatre for a one night benefit performance on Friday November 6th at 7 pm. All tickets are $25 donation and all proceeds will benefit the New School at the Media Theatre,Jesse Cline Artistic Director.

Acting classes start up again this weekend at The Media Theatre. The Fall semester presents a variety of classes for children, teens, and adults.  

Marsha Peltz, The Media Theatre's Director of Development who also assists with publicity for the professional music theatre company, may be a new staff member at the theatre but she is certainly not new to the region. She returns to her entertainment 'roots' after a few years away when she promoted the former Valley Forge Music Fair and several Atlantic City casino hotels.

His final song was 'Who I'd Be' from Broadway's Shrek: The Musical. It capped a winning five-week stage adventure for West Chester's 13 year old JD Triolo who won The Media Theatre's 2015 'Vocalist Junior' contest. Walking away with a $500 cash prize and a gift certificate for the theatre, JD beamed as he hugged the runner-up (Cassidy Else, 10, of Drexel Hill).

Week two of the 'Vocalist Jr' contest at The Media Theatre raised the bar a bit from the first week. There were less nerves and anxieties which allowed each performer to relax a bit and simply have fun on stage as they brought their all to each performance.

Fox-TV Channel 29's super weather anchor, Sue Serio, has a knack for calling it like she sees it when it comes to The Media Theatre's 'Vocalist' contest. Having emceed the popular summer singing competition for several years, Serio opened the year's event once again. With her warm, welcoming spirit and terrific connection to the enthusiastic audience, Serio said the night's show was 'Astonishing'. 

The Media Theatre's Broadway Series starts up again in September, but until then several professional actors who have appeared on its stage will headline the classic rock and roll musical 'The Who's Tommy' in July and August.

The Media Theatre is where you'll find the best local up and coming talent this summer in the 2015 'Vocalist' and 'Vocalist Junior' contests. Young singers from elementary school age through college and a bit beyond will entertain audiences twice per week beginning July 8 for five weeks. Media Music Theatre Company produces the event each summer.

The region's professional premiere of 'Ghost: The Musical' is happening now through March 29 at The Media Theatre. It's directed by two-time Broadway World Award winner Jesse Cline with costumes by Katie Yamaguchi, lights by Troy Martin O' Shia, set design by Matthew Miller, sound by Carl Park, music direction by Christopher Ertelt, and choreography by Dann Dunn. With a new School and Dance Studio on State Street, The Media Theatre's educational opportunities have the opportunity to expand beyond the basic core of acting classes currently offered. As spring offers a sense of 'all things new', the professional music theatre has two new courses added to its curriculum for aspiring actors and singers.

GHOST: THE MUSICAL is at The Media Theatre during the month of March. Based on the extremely popular film from 1990 which had fans swooning over Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore (and an Oscar winning performance from Whoopi Goldberg), it's as romantic as a musical can be.
