NEW YORK FESTIVAL OF SONG (NYFOS) creates intimate concerts that breathe new life into an art form that's rich and emotionally resonant, yet is too often treated as genteel, intellectual, and predictable. Led by founders Steven Blier and Michael Barrett, armed with just two pianos, gorgeous voices, a sense of humor, and a love of words and music-not to mention a deep knowledge of musical culture savvy enough to find the 18th-century gem that speaks to today's sensibilities-NYFOS plunders music's most remote precincts to create evenings of the deepest pleasure.

Two Brooklyn opera companies, AMERICAN OPERA PROJECTS (AOP) and OPERA ON TAP, will present the third installment of its Opera Grows in Brooklyn series called OGB: Stranger Than Fiction, an evening of three 30-minute opera scenes and songs from composers Raymond Lustig, Matt Schickele, and James Barry - all based on true stories.

OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, announces the next sessions of its ongoing Making Connections series, a professional development and networking program nurturing the next generation of performing and creative artists. Making Connections is geared toward early-career artists, including singers, composers, librettists, designers, directors and others who work in or would like to work in the field of opera.

Pittsburgh Opera recently announced the world premiere of the revised version of 'The Grapes of Wrath,' a new opera based on John Steinbeck's novel, by Ricky Ian Gordon and Michael Korie. Taking place at the Benedum Center for the Peforming Arts, 'The Grapes of Wrath' will be performed on Saturday, November 15 at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 21 at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m..

Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon and Michael Korie's adaptation of the classic John Steinbeck novel The Grapes of Wrath.
