AN EVENING AT LA CAGE Starring Marino Ends Its 24 Year Run
by Gabrielle Sierra
- Feb 11, 2009
AN EVENING AT LA CAGE has taken its last curtsy after a 24 year run. The cast, led by Frank Marino, were informed of this unfortunate closing after Monday's performance. There are rumors that the producers are trying to negotiate for a TV show and hopes to reopen the show in the future.
La Cage is the fourth longest running show on the Vegas strip.
When An Evening at La Cage opened at the Riviera in 1985, skeptic casino owners gave producer Norbert Aleman and his young star, female impersonator Frank Marino, three months to prove themselves. Obviously, they did a good job of doing just that. It's 20 years later and La Cage and Frank Marino have held up very well - of course, for Marino, a little cosmetic surgery hasn't hurt.

by Beau Higgins
- Jan 30, 2009
Arts at St. Johns will explore, through a selection of songs, how the format of the Broadway musical originated in New York City in the late 1800's, through a collaboration of talented theater actors, vaudeville performers and burlesque dancers, led by the lavish producer Florenz Ziegfeld. The first popular shows, written by great American composers such as the Gershwins, Irving Berlin, and Jerome Kern, were campy, fun, and poetic, with various plots, songs, flashy costumes and, at times, risque subject matter.
