Maltz Jupiter Theatre Announces 2009/10 Season

As another successful season continues, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is excited to announce the 2009/2010 season of five great productions that will allow you to Dream, Imagine, and Escape!

The seventh season will start off with a world-premiere musical, Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl, about The Life and lies of the great comedienne featuring songs that made her famous. Next, Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize winning coming-of-age comedy, Lost In Yonkers, surrounds the highly dysfunctional family of two boys. Immediately following is Broadway's blockbuster hit, La Cage aux Folles, filled with feathered "showgirls" and a tuneful score by Jerry Herman. Then join us for the all-American patriotic revue, Tintypes, featuring songs such as "Yankee Doodle Boy" and "America the Beautiful." Ending our eclectic season will be Cole Porter's splashy tap dance extravaganza, Anything Goes.

"This upcoming season will give our audience an opportunity to see five distinctive theatre productions," says Andrew Kato, Artistic Director of the Theatre, "All of them are full of heart, imagination and honesty and will be a great anecdote during these troubled times."

With over 7,100 subscribers and multiple Carbonell Awards, the Theatre's new season will be very well received in South Florida. The Theatre is offering two convenient subscription plans, the four-play and the five-play, for the 2009/2010 Dream, Imagine, Escape season. "Theatre is a great way for us to reflect on the world we live in and these shows give us a deeper understanding of ourselves and take us on five separate journeys," says Kato, "How else can you be transported to five different worlds so inexpensively?"

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is an award-winning professional not-for-profit regional theatre dedicated to the performing arts whose mission is to entertain, educate and inspire our community. The Theatre is a member of the prestigious League of Resident Theatres and is located east of U.S. Highway 1 at 1001 East Indiantown Road and State Road A1A in Jupiter.

November 10 - 22, 2009

The woman who kept Broadway audiences laughing for three decades is the subject of this intriguing world premiere play. From her start in Burlesque as a teenager, to being the toast of the great Ziegfeld follies, Fanny Brice was captivating, charismatic and the queen of comedy. This not-to-be-missed exploration of her life featuring unforgettable standards such as My Man and Second Hand Rose will celebrate the laughs, loves and life of Fanny Brice. Great for the entire family!

Lost In Yonkers

The coming-of-age comedy

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play, Neil Simon's comedy is a heartfelt tale about family and what holds them together. Set in 1942 in a small apartment over a candy store in New York, this play tells the tale of two young brothers spending time with their formidable grandmother, their kooky aunt and their gangster uncle. Filled with laughter, tears and insight, this play is an exploration of dysfunction, adolescent innocence, and pride. Great for the entire family!

Bon Soiree! Welcome to glittering world of La Cage Aux Folles, winner of the Tony Award and one of the all time biggest Broadway hits! Featuring beautiful "show-girls," a delightful score by Jerry Herman, and colorful production numbers, this musical features the memorable songs, The Best of Times and I Am What I Am and explores what it is to be a family, to love without condition, and above all, to be proud of who we are. Adult subject matter.

In this revue of pre-World War I America, our nation is chronicled in a nostalgic musical journey that takes us back to the exciting and tumultuous period in history that made our country great. This grand pageant, featuring works by George M. Cohan, John Philip Sousa and Scott Joplin, among others, is a blend of patriotic songs, romantic tunes, and ragtime including You're A Grand Old Flag, Yankee Doodle Boy, and America the Beautiful. Great for the entire family!

Anything Goes

The tap-dancing musical extravaganza!

March 9 - 28, 2010

All aboard for this tuneful, tap-dancing, splashy transatlantic romp awash with romance, intrigue and delightful Cole Porter score. Audiences are certain to get a kick out of this lighthearted gem of mistaken identities and misbegotten romance all set aboard the luxury ocean liner where Billy Crocker tries to woo the girl of his dreams. The smashing score includes: You're the Top, I Get a Kick Out of You, and It's De-Lovely. Great for the entire family!
