Sharon Playhouse Sets Star-Studded Casts for 2017 Summer Season

Sharon Playhouse has announced complete casting for its 2017 Season. The season kicks off with MINOR CHARACTER: SIX TRANSLATIONS OF UNCLE VANYA, created by New Saloon (Morgan Green, Madeline Wise, and Milo Cramer), followed by FAR AWAY by Caryl Churchill (Love and Information). The season will conclude with a new, intimate chamber production of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. In a shift that begins this season, Morgan Green (William Shakespeare's Mom) will direct all three productions, showcasing the talents and range of the rising director.
Neglected Musicals to Present MAME at Hayes Theatre Co

Neglected Musicals will present MAME at Hayes Theatre Co from Wednesday 5 July. Directed by Richard Carroll, this 1966 Broadway hit will be the first time the musical has been performed on a professional stage since 1968.

Speaking of 'birds of a feather,' this musical is not so much about birds, as it is about drag queens. Think Robin Williams and Nathan Lane in 'The Birdcage,' add a fabulous Broadway score by Jerry Herman (of 'Hello, Dolly!' fame), a hilarious book by Harvey Fierstein ('Kinky Boots') and a few thousand feathers and sequins, and you have 'La Cage aux Folles,' the Tony-winning musical that too rarely gets a chance on stage these days!

The fourth installment of Pride Films and Plays' His & His.' cabaret series - entitled 'Broadway at the Broadway' will be performed on Thursday, June 8 in The Broadway at the Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway. The His and His series follows the development of LGBT characters on Broadway, and celebrates the artists who wrote the great works of musical theater.

From just about the moment Alexis Michelle walked into the workroom, the RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE contestant was clocked as a Broadway queen. While performing at Feinstein's/54 Below in IT TAKES A WOMAN with her rich, husky singing voice, that proved to be a well-earned title.
But, as seen on TV, comedy seems to come a bit harder for Michelle. Well, don't blame it entirely on the edit, because that duality took center stage at the May 16 show, her solo debut at the venue.

The fourth annual "REAL to REEL: Portrayals and Perceptions of LGBTQs in Hollywood" exhibit, in partnership with Los Angeles City Council member Mitch O'Farrell, is an educational, entertaining and informative retrospective of LGBTQ images in film, TV, new digital platforms featuring costumes, props, photos, and iconic imagery all telling the story of the milestones and influence that LGBTQ characters and plot lines have had in Hollywood from early stereotypes to modern-day representations.
