92Y's Tisch Center for the Arts is proud to announce its 2019/20 Classical season, with more than 50 concerts from mid-October through early June. Curated by DirectorHanna Arie-Gaifman with Artistic Administrator Nicholas Russotto, it may be 92Y's most ambitious season to date, in both size and artistic scope. From solo recitals to chamber operas, the 19/20 offerings epitomize the world-class artistry and intelligent programming for which 92Y is known. The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents concerts with violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill, its artist in residence. On Sunday, March 3, O'Neill performs a program of British composers -- Britten, Bowen, Bridge, Carter and Clarke with pianist Steven Lin; he closes on Sunday, May 26 with a program called L.A. Masters with works by Stravinsky, Schoenberg and Brahms with Jennifer Frautschi (violin), Jesse Mills (violin), Fred Sherry (cello), and Orion Weiss (piano).
The Sarasota Concert Association's 2019 Great Performers Series season continues Thursday, February 21, 7:30 p.m., with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields with pianist Jeremy Denk. The evening's program includes Albinoni's Concerto Op. 5, No. 5 in A Minor, a new commission by the British composer, Sally Beamish, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 14 in E-flat Major, Elgar's Serenade for Strings, and Bartok's Divertimento for String Orchestra. For its 2019-2020 Subscription Series presented by Carnegie Hall, Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) and Principal Conductor Bernard Labadie will perform three bold concert programs, including Mendelssohn's "Scottish" Symphony and pianist Beatrice Rana performing Bach keyboard concertos, a program dedicated entirely to works for double orchestra by Handel and Vivaldi, and a celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday with four works displaying the composer's audacious genius.
Nonesuch and New Amsterdam Records have joined forces to release approximately three albums per year over an initial three-year period. This partnership is the result of conversations between the two New York-based labels about their long-term shared values to support the work of several generations of American composers, with the intention of enabling those artists to realize creative ambitions that might not otherwise be achievable. The collaboration reflects the fifty-four-year-old Nonesuch's legacy and the accomplishments of the ten-year-old New Amsterdam, combining their resources in order to share newly-recorded music with a wider audience.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the appointment of pianist Jeremy Denk to its faculty. The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the fourth biennial gathering of the Stephen and Cynthia Rubin Institute for Music Criticism, a groundbreaking initiative for educational and financial support that identifies and engages emerging young writers in the art of classical music criticism and creates a sustainable funding model for professional journalists at news organizations across the United States. Taking place October 25-29 at SFCM and surrounding Civic Center venues, the Rubin Institute will, for the first time in its history, include jazz in its lineup of world-class concerts.
