The World Premiere of Jim Henry's suspenseful drama BROTHER OF ALL will have a Champagne Celebration on Thursday, March 27 at the Detroit Repertory Theatre at 8:30 PM. Writers In Treatment will honor Carrie White, Hollywood hairdresser to the stars and the author of "Upper Cut,' with the 'Experience, Strength and Hope' Award on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Skirball Cultural Center. Ed Begley Jr. will host the event and actress Joanna Cassidy ("Body of Proof," "Six Feet Under") will present the award to Carrie White. The evening will also feature a hilarious performance by stand-up comedian Alonzo Bodden (winner of "Last Comic Standing," frequent guest on NPR's "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me") as well as a special guest appearance by actress and recovery advocate Mackenzie Phillips.

Will Eno's new play The Realistic Joneses will come to Broadway in Spring of 2014 starring Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner; Academy Award and Tony Award-nominee Toni Collette (“Hostages,” “United States of Tara,” The Sixth Sense, The Wild Party), Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winner Michael C. Hall (“Dexter,” Chicago), Tony Award-winner Tracy Letts (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; August: Osage County; “Homeland”), and Academy Award-winner and Gold Globe-nominee Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny; The Wrestler; Salome). The production will be directed by Obie Award-winner Sam Gold, who is currently represented by Fun Home at the Public Theater.
Thursday evening's DanceNow Festival at Joe's Pub, October 10th, 2013, was an evening teaming with glamour. Down-turned lights, delectable food, fine drinks, and all eyes glued to the small stage on which ten companies performed, separately, five minutes of uniquely prepared work. With the exception of Take Dance, who opened the show with an excerpt from SOMEWHERE FAMILIAR MELODIES, a commissioned work by Joe's Pub in 2013, the artists had to use their five minutes to capture the audience with a well-rounded and completed theme. At the end of the show, the audience was then asked to vote. Who among these nine companies would be the winner of an evening length work presented by Joe's Pub in 2015? I certainly have my own opinions.
