MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) just announced that film star Heather Graham, Gia Crovatin, Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne, and Frederick Weller will star in the world premiere of MCC Playwright-in-Residence Neil LaBute's new play, The Money Shot, directed by Terry Kinney. Performances for The Money Shot begin at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 4, 2014. Molotov Theatre Group, Washington DC's only horror- and suspense-based theatre company, is issuing a call for directors for its 2014/2015 season, which includes "Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe," "The Margins" and "Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom." Interested directors are encouraged to submit their credentials for any of the shows of the season.
Playwrights Union to Host 5th Annual First Peek Reading Series, 5/17-18

The Playwrights Union, a network of Los Angeles theater artists writing for stage, tv and film, hosts its fifth annual FIRST PEEK reading series of new work, May 17 and 18 at Monk Space in Koreatown. Original plays were first drafted during a month-long writing challenge in February. Plays have been finished or re-written in the weeks leading up to the Festival. Readings start at 2pm on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday. Tickets are free, but donations are suggested. There will be a Reception with Small Bites from Chef JC (aka PU member Jonathan Ceniceroz) and tunes from DJ Mad Joint (aka PU member Terence Anthony) starting at 8:30pm on Saturday.

MCC THEATER has announced its four-show 2014-15 Main Stage Season, which runs Fall 2014 through Summer 2015. All productions will be staged at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street). This announcement comes on the heels of one of MCC's most acclaimed seasons yet, which began in Fall 2013 with the New York premiere of John Pollono's Small Engine Repair and continued with the Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Askins' Hand to God. The final production of MCC's 2013-14 Season, Penelope Skinner's The Village Bike starring Greta Gerwig and directed by Sam Gold, has its North American debut beginning May 22, 2014. The Drama League (Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director; Roger T. Danforth, Artistic Director) has announced the ten artists and theater ensembles chosen to develop new plays and musicals as part of the 2014 Artist Residency Program. The development of these works, which include two 2014 Artists In Residence, Rachel Dickstein/Ripe Time and Jeremy Bloom/Rady&Bloom, will be held at The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas) in Tribeca from March-July 2014.
Theatre Pro Rata Takes Home 50/50 Applause Award

Theatre Pro Rata was recently honored by The International Centre for Women Playwrights (ICWP) with a 50/50 Applause Award for producing a season of theatre with at least 50% of their shows written by women. Theatre Pro Rata's 2012-13 season featured work by Jennifer Haley (Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom) and Lauren Gunderson (Emilie: La Marquise du Chatelet Defends Her Life Tonight).

Charlie Hofheimer, also known as Abe Drexler on AMC's 'Mad Men' joins the cast of HERO Theatre's 'Classic Film Project'. Hofheimer will star in 'Non Mi Scordo...with a Shmear' written by Danny Hoch. Ric Salinas of 'Culture Clash' will also star in the event in 'Treason or Reason' written by Larry Charles. The 'Classic Film Project' consists of scenes inspired by classic films.
