Paper Mill Playhouse will present A CHRISTMAS STORY: THE MUSICAL this holiday season. Based on the popular 1983 film, A CHRISTMAS STORY: THE MUSICAL has a book by Joseph Robinette with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. A CHRISTMAS STORY: THE MUSICAL will be directed byBrandon Ivie and choreographed by Mara Newbery Greer. A CHRISTMAS STORY: THE MUSICAL will run eight times a week at the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from November 25, 2015, through January 3, 2016. The official press opening night is Sunday, November 29, at 7:00pm.

Just last night, the York Theatre Company honored Broadway and Hollywood legend Angela Lansbury with the 2015 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre. The evening's entertainment was directed by Kurt Stammc(York's Closer Than Ever; Our Sinatra), with music direction by Andrew Gerle (York's Closer Than Ever).

ITV is putting on its own live version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC this Christmas. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Julian Ovenden will star as 'Captain Von Trapp' in the upcoming live telecast, and according to BBC News, he'll be joined by Olivier winner Maria Friedman as Mother Abbess, Mel Giedroyc as Frau Schmidt, and Kara Tointon as Maria.

MCC Theater presents the New York premiere of John Pollono's LOST GIRLS. According to WhatsOnStage, Uzo Aduba, star of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK and NBC's upcoming presentation of THE WIZ LIVE!, has nabbed one of the lead roles in THE MAIDS, slated to play Trafalgar Studios, this February, directed by Jamie Lloyd as his company's first 2016 production.

Tchaikovsky's classic ballet THE NUTCRACKER will be reimagined in a two-hour TV movie adaptation set in the Big Apple. Deadline writes that Adam Shankman is working on the project for NBC, with BANDLSAM's Todd Graff writing the script.

Rehearsals just began for the New York premiere of the Playwrights Horizons and production of MARJORIE PRIME, a new play byJordan Harrison, directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman. A Playwrights Horizons Commission, MARJORIE PRIME was a 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist and is the third production of Playwrights Horizons' 2015/2016 Season.

The sold-out benefit evening of 'BRIDGING THE GAP AND OTHER SHORT PLAYS BY WESLEY TAYLOR' -- an evening of readings of a collection of six new short plays by actor and playwright WESLEY TAYLOR to benefit The Actors Fund -- was just last night, October 26, at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Abingdon Theatre Company celebrates its 2015-2016 Season with ABINGDON: REFLECTIONS OF STARLIGHT, its annual benefit gala and dinner, tonight, October 26 at Espace (635 West 42nd Street in Manhattan). Richard Jay-Alexander, best known for directing Barbra Streisand and other artists in concert, is set to direct the event, which begins at 6:00pm.
