The world premiere of STRAIGHT, a new play written by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola and directed by Andy Sandberg (Application Pending), officially opened off-Broadway last night, February 29, and will run through May 8, 2016 at The Acorn Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036). Photo Coverage: Trailblazing Women Gather at the Golden Theatre for the First Broadway Preview of ECLIPSED!

The new American play ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira just began Broadway previews last night, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh. ECLIPSED, directed by Liesl Tommy, will open on March 6, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). ECLIPSED marks a historic moment on Broadway: the first time the cast, director, and playwright are composed entirely of female artists, fitting for a production that so stunningly chronicles the experiences of a group of very resilient women. To celebrate, the show hosted some of the industry's other trailblazing and history-making women for the first preview. Dava Ivey, Mark Linn-Baker & More Set for Red Bull Theater's THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL

Red Bull Theater today announced the cast for Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The School For Scandal, directed by Marc Vietor: Dana Ivey (Tony Award nominee for Butley, The Rivals, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Sunday in the Park with George, Heartbreak House); Mark Linn-Baker (My Favorite Year, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Year with Frog and Toad, 'Perfect Strangers'); Frances Barber (internationally renowned West End actress: King Lear and The Seagull with Ian McKellen at BAM, the Donmar's Julius Caesar at St Ann's Warehouse, 'Doctor Who,' Prick Up Your Ears, and the Pet Shop Boys musical Closer to Heaven); and Henry Stram (Titanic, The Grey Zone), along with Helen Cespedes, Christian Conn, Christian DeMarais, Jacob Dresch, Ramsey Faragallah, Ryan Garbayo, Bradley Gibson, Nadine Malouf, Ben Mehl, and Derek Smith ('Tis Pity She's a Whore, The Green Bird - Tony Award nomination). 

Photo Coverage: Signature Theatre Celebrates Opening Night of Alfred Uhry's ANGEL REAPERS

Signature Theatre presents ANGEL REAPERS, written by Residency Five playwright Martha Clarke and Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winner Alfred Uhry, directed and choreographed by Ms. Clarke. The production will run through March 20, 2016 with an opening last night, February 22, in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Chicago, Broadway's longest running American musical, now in its 20th year, just celebrated another milestone at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC). Last night the company gathered to mark the show's 8000th performance on a night that happened to also be the birthday of Barry Weissler, the show's lead producer. ARTS IN THE CITY - the Emmy-nominated CUNY TV arts series - presents a new February program hosted by Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson from Downtown Brooklyn's New York Transit Museum, a Hidden Gem of New York featuring dioramas, historic turnstiles, and vintage subway cars with original period advertising - the largest museum of public transportation in the country. The episode premieres beginning today, Feb. 12 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm on CUNY TV*.

Paper Mill Playhouse's A BRONX TALE, Directed by Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks, Begins Tonight

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) just announced complete casting for the world premiere musical A Bronx Tale: The Musical. The musical will be co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by four-time Drama Desk Award nominee Sergio Trujillo. A Bronx Tale: The Musical features a book by Chazz Palminteri, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater.

Jose Llana, Nikki M. James & More to Star in STRING as Part of 'New Musicals at 54'

String is a modern-day twist on the story of the Three Fates, who spin, measure, and snip the string of our lives and find themselves stranded on Earth. Stuck in an office building, they're not so different from the workaholic mortals around them -- except that for the Fates, juggling their jobs and an unexpected office romance might literally mean the end of the world.
