Signature Theatre Announces Special Events at Pershing Square

Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; James Houghton, Founder) will host several special events at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues) this winter, the company announced today.

African-American Shakespeare Company Tackles An American Classic With A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE

For the first time in its 23-year history, the African-American Shakespeare Company will present A Streetcar Named Desire. As is the company's custom, each season they choose one non-Shakespeare play from the canon of American classics. Tennessee Williams' Streetcar follows in the footsteps of the company's well-received 2017 production of August Wilson's Jitney, also staged at Marines Memorial.

Theatre Memphis Presents SOUVENIR

Souvenir, A Fantasia Based on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins, is about a wealthy eccentric, self-promoted performer who was incapable of producing two notes in tune consecutively. This comic turn on a real life eccentric makes its triumphant return to Theatre Memphis in the Next Stage, February 9-25, 2018.  Hilarious and poignant, her story of celebrity and terrible singing is told through her respected accompanist, Cosme McMoon, whose contempt gives way to reluctant admiration and affection. Returning to the two roles are Jude Knight and David Shipley, both of whom performed in the original Theatre Memphis production.

Little Simz Presents WELCOME TO WONDERLAND: THE EXPERIENCE PART 2

Mariachi Los Camperos Come to Lincoln Theater

Few things are more exciting than the driving rhythms and evocative melodies of the violin, vihuela, guitar and trumpet coming together to produce one of the most popular musical genres of all time: mariachi. And no other mariachi group has mastered the style like Grammy winning Mariachi Los Camperos, one of the oldest and finest ensembles in the world. The celebrated band returns to the Valley on February 10 for Viva Mexico! Viva America!, a rousing performance at Lincoln Theater.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Welcomes Summer Club for A Big Band Valentine's Day

An evening of song and swing awaits local music lovers as Philadelphia Theatre Company presents "The Summer Club: A Big Band Valentine's Day." Cupid shoots his arrow down music's memory lane this February 14th as audiences are transported to an era when clubs were hot, everyone dressed up and martinis came straight up. Take the Lead Dance Project will have everyone swinging in the aisles with free dance lessons before the show. Champagne cocktails will be pouring at the bar and Asher's Chocolates will provide a sweet treat to remember the night. This one-night only event takes place at Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (480 S. Broad). Doors open at 6:00pm, with showtime at 7:00pm. Ka·nei·see | Collective Announces New Dance About Harassment

Ka·nei·see | collective, a contemporary dance company under the direction of Tanya Chianese, is pleased to announce the world premiere of NEVERTHELESS, a collaboration with the Bay Area's all-women Cat Call Choir. Drawing inspiration from the feminist battle cry, "Nevertheless, she persisted," Nevertheless surveys the field of gender-based harassment from the subtle to the violent, in a marriage of song and dance, comedy and horror. Nevertheless runs April 19 - 22 at CounterPulse, with shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
