As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, stage and screen star, Patricia Morison died at the age of 103 at home in Los Angeles of natural causes. A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.

L.A. Comedy Writers/Performers Ask Audience To Settle Marital Disputes at Montreal Fringe Festival

A few years ago  BICK/ANTZIS created a YouTube video called Settle This Thing in order to have the Internet provide a solution to an ongoing argument they couldn't resolve on their own. Tamara Bick and Drew Antzis each laid out their argument and told viewers, 'Vote for who you agree with and we'll live with the results.' After a week the married couple tallied the votes and had a winner. Argument solved! 'It's crowd sourcing to solve our fights,' says Antzis, 'and it worked!' The web series Settle This Thing was born.

Broadway Stars Join Covenant House in Honoring Audra McDonald

Emmy and Peabody Award-winning host Stephen Colbert of CBS's THE LATE SHOW will join CBS MORNING SHOW co-host John Dickersonand an all-star cast of Broadway royalty on the stage of the Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center on June 18, 2018, as the international youth charity Covenant House presents its Beacon of Hope Award to Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award-winner Audra McDonald, and honors long-time supporters, Broadway veteran Capathia Jenkins and Take-Two Interactive, at the 2018 A Night of Broadway Stars gala concert.

Rhinebeck Writers Retreat Announces 2018 Writers, Including Tony, Emmy, Jonathan Larson, And Kleban Winners

Founding Executive Director Kathy Evans announced the 19 writers of 9 new musicals in this summer's Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. This year's writers include 2018 Jonathan Larson winners Andrew Farmer and Andrew Butler, 2018 Kleban winner Amanda Yasnowitz, Tony-winner Ken Davenport, 2018 Lucille Lortel winner for Outstanding Musical (KPOP) Max Vernon, Emmy winner Doug Katsaros, Obie winner Erin Courtney, and the writers of the podcast musical 36 questions who are developing their next musical, Chris Littler and Ellen Winter.

National Theatre CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME Announces Additional Performance

The National Theatre of Great Britain's Olivier and Tony Award-winning production of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME will tour Australia for the first time from June 2018.  Due to popular demand an extra week has been added to the Sydney season with the production now playing until Saturday 28 July.  In this additional week there will be special midweek matinee performances on Wednesday 25 July and Thursday 26 July at 1pm.

Brown Paper Box Co.'s regional premiere of EVERYBODY has found its cast! This modern riff on the medieval morality play Everyman follows Everybody (chosen from the cast via lottery at each performance) as they question and explore life's most basic and universal elements of death, love, friendship, family, God. etc. Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (Gloria, An Octoroon) bases EVERYBODY on the 15th century morality play that instructs sinners on how to repent and seek redemption.

A special program of DCINY (Distinguished Concerts International New York) 10th anniversary season, a popular producer of world-class classical choral concerts, is The Sacred and the Profane: Carmina Burana, featuring Carl Orff's Carmina Burana conducted by maestro Jonathan Griffith.  Also on the program is the New York premiere of Gospel Trinity, written by African American composer Rosephanye Powell and conducted by William Powell. The program juxtaposes the sacred in Powell's composition with the profane in Orff's masterpiece.

Photo Flash: Orlando REP Reveals Renovated Lobby

When patrons walk into Orlando Repertory Theatre (Orlando REP) they'll find a transformed, imaginative space thanks to a public-private partnership that funded the remodeling of the theatre's main lobby. The Florida Blue Lobby is to be revealed Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 8 a.m. With work surpassing $300,000, the renovation includes a new custom-designed floor, merchandise carts, a video wall, and eco-friendly, custom LED lighting fixtures. The project was made possible by a leading gift from the Florida Blue Foundation and matched by the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs Cultural Facilities program.
