The pop-opera girl group Ida's Christmas album, Believe, which was produced independently by its four members and fully funded by their Kickstarter campaign, has entered the Official Classical Charts (as of 14 December). Ida are in the unique position of being the only unsigned act to feature in this week's Official Classical Chart.
The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) announced that the festival's opening night will be the screening of All is True directed by Kenneth Branagh on Friday, January 4. The festival will close with Ladies in Black, directed by Bruce Beresford on Sunday, January 13. The Festival will screen 223 films from 78 countries, including 48 premieres (4 World, 13 North American and 31 U.S.) from January 3-14, 2019. The line-up includes a focus on cinema from France, India and Mexico, Premieres, Talking Pictures, Book to Screen, Special Presentations, FLOS: Foreign Language Oscar Submissions, Gay!La, Local Spotlight, Modern Masters, True Stories, World Cinema Now, a 30-film retrospective of selections from past festivals (free screenings sponsored by Desert Care Network and National Endowment for the Arts), and more.

Fifteen screenwriters from countries including the U.S., Lebanon, South Africa, Turkey, and the United Kingdom will bring twelve projects to the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab, taking place January 18-23, 2019 at the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah. The Lab provides an immersive environment that encourages all participants to embrace a spirit of creative risk-taking and collaboration, and imparts vital lessons in the art and craft of screenwriting while building a robust creative community. Through one-on-one story sessions with Creative Advisors, Fellows take part in an artistically rigorous process that facilitates the deep exploration needed to fully realize their material. The Lab is the first step in a year-round continuum of customized creative and tactical support for each project and team.
DCINY presents the US premiere of Sir Karl Jenkins' newest work, Symphonic Adiemus, a re-orchestration of his acclaimed composition Adiemus. Jenkins' new vocal score contains 12 numbers from the Adiemus series set in dynamic new scorings for an extended orchestra of over 100 musicians, including more than 20 layers of classical and world percussion and a choir of over 275 vocalists. Maestro Jonathan Griffith leads the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Distinguished Concerts Singers International in a celebration of Jenkins' 75th birthday. The concert will also include Stabat Mater by the composer-in-residence. Twenty choirs from around the world will participate in the performance. Iraqi singer Baidar Al Basri will join as the featured soloist.

Jacob's Pillow announces the full season lineup of Festival 2019 including world premieres, new commissions, international artists, anniversary celebrations, Pillow-exclusive engagements, and work developed at the Pillow Lab. Entering its 87th consecutive summer, Jacob's Pillow is home to the longest-running dance festival in the United States, a National Historic Landmark, a National Medal of Arts recipient, and has steadily expanded its reach in the field and its local community as a year-round center for dance research and development. Festival 2019 opens June 19, attracting audiences both on and off its site in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, through August 25.

12 Peers Theater announces their eighth season featuring the return of Mythburgh, a site-specific performance and storytelling series, and two local premieres, Blank and Everybody. Blank is a performance piece by Nassim Soleimanpour, the mastermind behind 2016's White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Everybody is a 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins that remixes the classic Everyman for a modern audience. The play features a rotating cast of performers, ensuring no two performances are the same.

New Brooklyn Theatre, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2012 to democratize the American theatre, has announced Raja Feather Kelly as its new Artistic Director. Kelly currently serves as the Founding Artistic Director of the dance-theatre-media company the feath3r theory, which has formally merged with New Brooklyn Theatre. He is the recipient of two Princess Grace Foundation Awards and most recently, the Breakout Award from the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation and Dance Magazine's inaugural Harkness Promise Award. the feath3r theory shares the ethos of New Brooklyn Theatre in the mission to broaden space for unheard voices and repressed histories in theatre. Since 2009, the feath3r theory has been recognized as a unique cross-disciplinary theatre company that aims to challenge its audience and creators to interrogate and celebrate their shared relationship to human empathy and personal ethics as expressed in popular media.

Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 has announced that Gabby Beans, Marceline Hugot, and Ismenia Mendes will join Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Karen Kandel, and Lucy Taylor for the world premiere of MARYS SEACOLE, a new play by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street). MARYS SEACOLE will begin performances Saturday evening, February 9 and run for six weeks only through Sunday, March 24. Opening night is Monday, February 25.
