The annual Momentum Festival of New Plays at Different Stages will close the 2018-19 City Theatre season with four days of an intergenerational epic, an unconventional comedy, a chilling thriller, and a touching story of hope. Supported by The Fine Foundation, the festival runs May 30 - June 2, 2019, and is free and open to the public, though reservations are required as seating is limited. Goodman Theatre announces a line-up of free staged readings written by members of its Playwrights Unit-a year-long residency for Chicago-based writers to develop their plays-in-progress with the Goodman's artistic team, in partnership with Chicago Dramatists. Members of the 2017/2018 Playwrights Unit include Sam Collier, Ricardo Gamboa, Isaac Gomez, Kristin Idaszak and Nigel O'Hearn. The Joust Theatre Company is thrilled to introduce The Writer's Round Table, a new developmental writers' group comprised of four carefully selected playwrights whose work challenges and/or reimagines systemic norms. These four playwrights will join us in a 9-month developmental process to exchange ideas and develop their plays which will culminate in each play receiving two public workshop performances, presented in repertory in the Spring and Fall of 2018. Specific dates and locations of these workshops will be announced soon.

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director, Joanie Schultz, today announced details for the inaugural DETOUR: A Festival of New Work (March 1 - 4, 2018). 'Seth's Broadway 101,' billed as 'A Master Class in Belting, Divas, and Hostile Opinions,' was presented Monday, April 16, 7:30PM at New World Stages, and BroadwayWorld was there!

On Monday, June 19th at The Hudson Theatre, over 650 guests were in attendance for a one-night-only staged reading of the Charles Busch cult classic play Die Mommie Die!, produced by The Actors' Fund of America, and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the event!
